I seldom believe the hype of incoming players although I do have faith in our recruiting. I also have faith in our coaching which leads me to be optimistic about upcoming seasons. I'm not expecting great QB play this season but I am expecting our offense to be pretty darn good. Can't wait to see how Cam game plans and how the oline jells for the RB'S.
Never doubt The Coach or Cam, but I remain puzzled why we are so hung up on high school type multi-threat QB's to play against the "pro style" SEC defenses? In the Pentagon we used to call this the "strategy - force mismatch."
When you have a Cam Cameron, there are too many things you can do with an offense. The major upgrade at OL coach will come more into play this year. You control the line, you control the game. It's only gonna get better. No matter what type of QB is recruited, he has to learn how to throw from the pocket. They're a number of multi-QB's playing in the NFL, playing against NFL defenses. Cam used what he had last year, NFL positions at QB, RB and a couple at the WR. This year, he has NFL talent on the OL, TE, RB and WR, how long before the QB position gets to that stage, don't know. But if last year was a hint, shouldn't take long. Cam is as good as any OC in college and most in the NFL. I've talked with people that have sat in his teaching sessions, we have a rare coach at LSU, should I say, coaches. Be thankful, this season and beyond pays off.
I think they just want talented qb's, guys who can run and throw. Also guys that can process information quickly and make the proper reads. I don't think we are going to see an Auburn type offense at LSU but having a mobile qb surely can't hurt. We are going to always run the ball and thus run dropback play action pass plays. I believe some of us are reading too much into the fact that we have mobile qb's. Go back and look at Cam's offenses in the NFL & in CFB and you'll see that he runs versatile offenses that utilize all of the weapons at his disposal. He isn't going to all of a sudden run a spread option attack for a large majority of a game or base the offense on a running qb. With McGee, LF, Williams, Guice, Brossette, etc Cam is going to keep the offense of the future very similar to what we saw last year as far as balance. However I do think we will see the rb's and TE's used more in the passing game due to the young qb's.
Because Cam Newton, Johnny Manziel etc do bad against those "pro style" SEC defenses right? Not saying they think they will find one of those, but if the other side dominates your line ... you need a qb that can avoid the big ass bastards who are coming after him.
Craig Nall talking Harris............as for the Rohan Davey part, Craig sees some of the same. At the 2:38 mark. Nice clip. http://pro.wnxx-fm.tritonflex.com/upload/CraigNall06-10-14.mp3
Man Rohan was so good throwing the ball when the pocket collapsed, especially throwing it to Josh Reed. Rohan was Big Ben at LSU before there was a Ben Roethlisberger (sp?).
