Kinda like you and Miles? I don't hate non-BCS teams. If Boise State or TCU gets in the NC game, I'd more than likely pull for them. I just don't think they have Major Conference depth and I don't think they could breeze through a major conference schedule like they do with the ones they play currently. Like Fish said, you pick one game on their schedule that they must win to ensure an undefeated season. Auburn beats LSU and Arkansas and no one is saying they have it made.
when's the last time boise called LSU and asked to come play in Tiger Stadium? boise knows that under the structure, its BEST path to the BCSCG is to remain a relatively big dog in a sun belt league to argue that boise is/was/should be considered one of the top 1/5 teams in the country based on isolated wins is laughable i would have far more respect for their program if like pat hill at fresno they would indeed play anywhere boise can get a game with the big boys....it really doesn't want it
So if Boise or TCU can get in with that schedule, why do the pundits pretty much demand that SEC teams or Big 10 teams go out and schedule major non conference opponents to be considered? What's the point of us playing WVU and UNC? Our non conference schedule is just as tough as theirs, and we play in the fuggin SEC. Being in the SEC is turning into a penalty.
Unfortunately, for some reason 2 teams that have only played 2 real teams each, with the rest of their schedules having losing records, are regarded higher than they should be. On a different note, I want all of the cowards who voiced LOUDLY their displeasure with this team and coaching staff, who KNEW this team was gonna go 7-4/8-5, who had no faith, who gave up on the possibilities, who have been leading the charge to get rid of Miles, who KNEW we weren't gonna beat UF, Bama, or any other top ranked team, who made claims that Miles had lost the team, who plain and simple didn't have the guts to stand up and support their team, I want them to come forward and take ownership of their stance, speak their piece now. I want them to support their beliefs. I want them to own up to their opinions. I know that most of them won't admit they were wrong, but they need to understand being a supporting fan is a fulltime and exhausting gig. Like it or not this coaching staff and team proved you wrong, and played like a championship caliber team. Flawed, yes, but a "Damn Strong Team", no matter what. It takes courage to stick by a coaching staff and team that has shown itself to be flawed and not playing to its capabilities. It takes courage to stick by a coaching staff and team, and support them even when the odds are against them. It takes courage to stand up against the masses and have faith and believe in what can be. To those Tiger fans I applaud you, you are courageous in your convictions. A special shout out to Coach Les Miles and his "Damn Strong Team" for not listening to the fans and the media. All of you are champions and deserve to be respected as such. Now go out and continue to prove everyone wrong.:geaux: :LSU231: :geauxtige :miles:
Yes, I watched the whole game. Boise State dominated in the trenches. On the score, no, it wasn't out of hand, but if you WATCHED the game and not just the score, you'd see that Boise's big guys pushed VT's big guys around all game. They controlled the LOS on both sides, and their defense held a very good runner in Ryan Williams to 40 yards. How, exactly is it their fault? I think that forcing Boise and TCU to play in one of the bowl games last year was total BS. It proved nothing. Basically they just sectioned off those two teams and forbade them from playing a "real team" so that they couldn't prove themselves. It's a corrupt system, and until everyone is playing by the same rules, you have to give them a shot. That's my take.
yeah, and that is reasonable. we need a playoff, 8 teams or greater. i am tired of all the excuses and barriers. money is not a barrier, it will probably be greater. schedules/class demands, etc., will not be a barrier if the 8 or 16 teams involved have a plan in place for the year they are lucky enough to make the playoffs.......yada, yada, yada.
Cap it at 8 teams, IMO. And I'd really prefer it stay at 4. But we do need a playoff. Using the "they're student athletes we can't overwork them" excuse is bunk when A. The regular season was recently expanded to 12 games for no reason other than to make money; and B. the non-scholarship guys in DIII who actually are student-athletes already play up to 15 games with playoffs.
