Did you watch their game??? Just what part did you see that even remotely suggests they could not beat the carp out of ANY team in the SEC this year??? That is a serious question. They did play a Pac 10 team and they won, they could have won by much more but started laying down after 3 yards with 4 minutes to go against OSU. They smothered a Big 12 team that is still in the running for the Big 12 south, they would have played 2 Big 12 teams this year but the other one ran for cover and begged out at the end of last season (Texas Tech). They went on the road beat two ACC teams last year, on the road and beat Stanford the year before that. They are playing LSU in 2012 and 2013. They are playing Oklahoma again next year..............they are not afraid to schedule ANYONE, the same can not be said about just any team putting TCU on their sched.
The computers are not influenced by "style points." However, they are only 1/3 of the equation. The human voters love style points. A.k.a. blowing out inferior opponents (Oregon, Boise and TCU) and Cinderella stories (Boise and TCU).
TCU is a very good team but LSU, Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, South Carolina, Florida and maybe even Mississippi State would be undefeated with that schedule.
Yeah, and UCLA won't beat USC back in 06. I knew this wouldn't happen so much that I bought a plane ticket to California the day before usc wouldn't lose to ucla to see LSU in the rose bowl. anything can happen. Although, I'd rather beat oregon in the NCG and then again to open the year next year.
You may be right, but you can't dismiss TCU beating the snot of of Utah at their place. I don't see a team on your list that would do that.
1 Oregon .9638 2 Auburn .9611 3 TCU .9259 4 Boise State .8662 5 LSU .8170 6 Stanford .7454 7 Wisconsin .7349 8 Nebraska .7298 LSU stands little chance at overtaking Boise State should they go unbeaten. They have a high ranked Nevada to contend with LSU playing a high ranked Arkansas in the same week. It's a wash in the computer polls and a wash in the human voters minds most likely. We may pick up a few votes, but not nearly enough. Given the same computer polls, the Tigers would have to narrow the gap between themselves and Boise State by just over 50 percent in the human polls. The good news is they don't have to overtake them in the human polls, only narrow the gap significantly between them. Some big decisive wins could go a long long way towards that end.
They beat the snot out of 'em last year too with the same pre game hype. Utah is a La. Tech or an East Carolina. No more than that. They should have never been in the top 20, let alone #5.
Robert Smith "isn't buying LSU" but he's got TCU #1 because they beat an average Utah team. What an idiot.
Could TCU beat any team in the SEC on one night with a month to prepare on a neutral field? Yes of course they could. Could TCU win on a neutral site against UNC, beat West Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi State, Vandy, Auburn, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Tennessee, Florida in the same season? I don't think so.
