That's my point... They'll get credit for beating those teams that are having down years and because they bring ratings...
Oh I was talking about LSU. Hadn't looked at any others in comparing last week to this. Now that I do, UGA only dropped a few after a blowout loss??
Hell no! If LSU is 10-2 after playing 7 ranked teams and UCF got in over us for being 12-0 after playing nobody, that would ruin the sport.
I was expecting UGA to drop a bit more. I am hoping that Georgia takes care of Florida And then Kentucky plays inspired and beats Georgia and then Kentucky wins out and represents the east.
Rankings are flawed. On the field is very important. If we aren’t the best in our conference and we aren’t ranked one or two, we only deserve to get in if the stars align. We aren’t looking for the top 8 teams, we’re looking for the top team. Getting representatives from as many conferences as possible helps eliminate the flaws in rankings.
I’m not saying 10-2 is good enough to get in, but that doesn’t mean it should go to a team who is undefeated by beating 12 teams who aren’t worth a shit. Rankings are not always right, but they serve a purpose. Do we really need rankings to know that if UCF played LSU’s schedule they would have 5 losses? 4 if I’m being nice.
If we’re giving the other 80% of teams a better shot at a NC, cool. If not, 4 is enough. I know a team that has lost twice and is maybe rated 7 isn’t the best team. I don’t know that about UCF. I strongly suspect it, but erring toward a NC a large swath of the country can care about seems worthwhile.
