I'm the head coach at LSU. I will be the head coach of LSU." Pretty clear to me. If he leaves after saying that, it would be worse than Saban's comments about not being the bama coach.
“I am the coach at LSU.” OK. “I will be the coach at LSU.” Yes — for about three more days. “I have no interest in talking to anybody else.” See above. Never used the words “next year.” Never used the word “Michigan.” Believe what you want, but I’m telling you — this is a desperate attempt to hold the team together for a championship game. He’s as good as gone.
I was watching that too. "Oh maybe the inaccuracy was that the GT DC isn't coming with him" They were doing anything they could to try to save themselves.
It got me all fired up!!! And just like the "crow" thread... I am in line to eat more than my share. To me, the presser was very definative. "Damn strong football team" :geaux: Fear the HAT!!! :milesmic:
It still seems somewhat funny to me that everyone assumes CLM's is the perfect fit for UM since he is a alumnist there. It seems to me that if you aren't an LSU fan then you could be somewhat skeptical of whether CLM's can maintain or build a top program until after his recruits maintain the last 3 years. Keep in mind it maybe the perfect fit for CLM's but maybe not for UM? I will give him credit however, he has a better record than Saban did with his own players but you have to wonder if he can win the big games if he and the team doesn't prove it today?
If all this was orchestrated to just hold it together for two more hours, then shame on everyone associated with this presser and to everyone at LSU who made a direct quote to the media about Miles staying. If it turns out that way, that would be one of the craziest things in sports to ever happen. You never see a coach holding a presser 2 hours before kickoff.
I'm still confused about what Miles is trying to say: Miles has been refusing to answer questions about the Michigan job for weeks. They have asked him questions such as "You could end all speculation by saying you are going to remain at LSU" and he would still refuse to answer. The guy was most certainly considering the Michigan job. The reason today's press conference was vague was because he didn't come out and say "Well, I've given it a lot thought, I've always dreamed of being the Michigan coach, but I've fallen in love with LSU. This is my team, this is where my heart it. I love LSU. This is the finest program on the planet. I want to stay here until I retire." But he didn't say anything like that. Maybe he just doesn't like being in front of the cameras, but it was very confusing. And why didn't AD Skip Bertman or some other representative of LSU get in front of the microphone and give us some more solid answers about what is going on. I mean if Miles is staying, I'd figure Skip would be pretty happy about it, and that'd he love to talk about it to the media. Hell, if Miles turns down his dream job at Michigan for LSU, that will be huge for LSU's reputation.
I believe he said "I'm busy". This link includes the video: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3136536
The advocate is stating that a contract has been renegotiated, though not yet signed -that Miles is staying at LSU and Pelini is leaving.
