I haven't been around as much, because, frankly, the pessimism from fans of a 3-0 football team disgusts me, but for what it's worth, the team has had easily its best practice week of the season this week. Whether that translates to Saturday is uncertain, of course, but it was a good practice week indeed. A lot of hands-on work with the linemen on both sides of the ball and a lot of hot coaches who don't want to be "pretty good" anymore.
Pessimism disgusts every decent person, same as lack of faith, lack of hope, lack of joy, and lack of love [esp. on an LSU fan site regarding an LSU Tiger sports program] :LSU231:
Clair, thanks for the report. And just do what I do with the pessimism, use it to make yourself enjoy knowing how good you have it being an LSU fan who appreciates having a coach and team that is 3-0.
Thanks for the update Clair, Two questions for you. After watching practice this week do you think the offensive game plan will try to establish the running game with the offensive line? And do you think Crowton/Miles will let JJ try and get some confidence in the deep passing game (by deep I mean anything over 15 yards)? My point of asking is that I think these two areas are my concern moving into the meat of the schedule. With the talent on our offensive line we should be able to line up (even with 8 men in the box) and get 4-5 yards. Also, JJ needs to show he can hit receivers in stride down the field. This would be a great week to try and establish these two areas. Thanks for your insight.
While I share your curiosity, I sort of hope Clair doesn't share our gameplan on the internet if he does know what Crowton is going to do. Some(not all!) of those Bulldog fans can probably read.
Snarl, I appreciate your point of view, however i do not think anyone would be surprised if we came out and pounded between the tackles and Miles challenged the OL to dominate the line after last week. Also, JJ missed a few passes down the field last week and threw behind runners. In addition, he is looking an awful lot at his primary receiver (versus looking the safety away then coming back to primary) IMO. None of this is disputed and if you were an opposing coach you would think LSU is going to work on these aspects. The benefit to being a power house program we can go out and "work on" aspects of our game versus relying on trickery or game planning. Besides, the MSU coaches are not reading our board on Friday before the biggest game of their season.
