A draft party....sorry, the draft is nothing to party about. I had to go to college to stay out of the draft. (Seriously, my birthday bingo in 1972 was #15)
Food, Beer and Dessert..........yea, I call that a party. #15, a buddy of mine hit on the first pull..........
Fortunately, the 1972-1975 lotteries were never drafted. I did have to report for a physical, though.
1-A for me. I don't know about 1972 not being drafted...They told me after my physical that I'd get a letter in a couple of weeks telling me where to go and what to do. I got my application to LSU rushed and got accepted the next day. My classification was changed to 1-H (for Holding)...the coveted student deferment.
I was in the 1970 class of 18yos. My number the year before was 260 and I knew I was dead but fortune smiled and my number for my class was something like 316. Then like a fool I joined ROTC.
Me too, but they just sent me a 1-H card, which I still have. They only drafted the 1971 lottery class in 1972 and they stopped drafting in 1973
