Russell Shepard is a class act and wouldn't publicly criticize Les Miles. He's also not stupid and wants to play. I know Les recruited him, so let's not start that debate. Him being supportive of Les Miles in interviews proves nothing.
I'll attempt to get this thread back on track. It's good that the players support Miles and I'm glad this news is out. This team is dynamite in 2 out 3 areas, and there's a chance to win every game (no, I don't think we'll go undefeated; I do think we will be competitive in every remaining game, though). The leaders on the team realize this and I really believe the O will get it together due to pressure by the rest of the team to cut down the penalties and turnovers, to focus and just execute. I think the team can be successful regardless of the coaching. :geauxtige
If you think THAT was lack of preparation, it's clear that you are. That would be like blaming Miles' lack of prep for him not having the headset on. There's a just a tad bit of difference in having too many men on the field and having the wrong QB and squandering, once again, our lifeline (time) because of decisions going back plays and plays before.
I just don't see Shep as the two faced type...publicly supporting Miles and privately thinking (or saying) he's a tool. It doesn't prove that Miles is or isn't an idiot...I'll give you that.
At this point, we as LSU fans need to focus on the positive. Two days of venting about what happened on Saturday should now be put to rest, we won the game. There were most definitely positives vs Tenn, including Ridley's great game, Lee having success and driving the team down the field, the awesome D that gave up only 14 points despite the turnovers, heck, even JJ's 83 yard run... Let's focus on the next game, then the game after that, etc. :geauxtige
He's paid what he is to beat the big boys, and that hasn't happened since he held up that crystal football. He can make a nice start by beating Florida on the road this weekend. But sooner or later he will have to show he can beat the likes of Saban and/or Meyer again to justify that pay.
hey Steve I am glad the world doesn't get to see the stupid things I do often!!! I can't express how blank I go often. like hey honey - does this dress make me look fat??? :bncry::bncry::bncry:
I don't think Shep is two-faced either. I'm sure Shepard was asked questions about Les Miles as a coach and because he respects Les Miles as a person, he came to his defense. I don't think he is bashing him behind is back, but like you said it doesn't prove that Miles is competent either.
