And, actually, if anything, I should have a bias against BRPD, esp. EBRP. Bastards pulled me over in college for DWI. Took a while to get beyond that, and still impacted my application to medical school, and getting medical licenses over time. I've had to always address it and prove my worth. But that's on me, not them. They didn't sabotage me, or have to clear me. I chose my actions, had to defend myself, and have had to prove I learned from it since.
At this point, the baby who initially survived the incident has also now passed. That makes this a double murder, right? The police have said there are several potential perpetrators because they believe she was killed by someone she knew. They don't call anyone suspects these days, they are "persons of interest" and the BRPD has labeled Collins as such. I see nothing to indicate that the BRPD is stringing anything out. They have rules and procedures to follow. There is no reason to move his case up the ladder simply because he is a potential NFL player trying to get drafted. I read that the murder rate in Baton Rouge leads to detectives often delaying immediate attention and investigation after 48 hours because more cases come in, not because they are evil. Collins is mostly a victim of timing at this point. On the outside chance he is guilty or involved, wouldn't you want to know that above all else? Certainly Brittney Mills' family would.
If he is guilty he should burn. There is no doubt about that. If it were me, I would have been there immediately to clear my name. I think most of us that follow LSU are just used to BRPD being worthless and overreaching.
Had Collins been there immediately I don't know that his name would have been cleared as fast. Then again, I don't know jack about the BRPD and they could be worthless.
Lots of talk using the words First 48 Hrs. I ask a good friend who has been on the First 48 show that is seen on TV, he said, most times you know who did the killing within the first 48 hrs. 90% of the time.
They may not have but him waiting and saying, eh... I'll go in next Monday doesn't really make think good things about La'El. Like you said a woman was killed as was an almost newborn child.
The Jordan Jefferson mishandling by the BRPD makes everyone question them. It cost the old chief his job. The difference is that the NFL is not an employer with any competition and there is no free market for NFL players. The NFL has a monopoly on football professionals in this country and their rules for the draft have permanently screwed Collins, quite possibly for nothing he did other than know a murder victim. Now he can only get a free agent contract at much lower pay, no guarantees, and no signing bonus. Someone will get an instant starter for a fraction of what he is worth and he will be stuck with it for 4 years. Collins isn't applying at IBM and if they pass on him, he can just go to Apple, Hewlitt-Packard, or General Motors.
And no one is saying to do it otherwise, here is the deal. They know if they suspect he had anything to do with it or not. That is the big thing, and that he hasn't been arrested or talked to yet tells me that they are on the side of "not". SO If they don't think he had anything to do with it and like I said, will probably ask him When is the last time you saw or spoke to her, know anyone that might want to hurt her type stuff then there is NO REASON, NONE, to get that shit out of the way and no, I really don't care about what order of the que this case is in. It is an extraordinary circumstance and yes, you make that exception. Now, if they DO think he may be involved, and have some sort of story that doesn't jive with anything else then I say BRPD is even more in wrong because that is all the more reason to get it over with. I just think this was handled all wrong, by everyone involved, a giant mess or a Big CF as I like to say.
