Ugh, Canzano and Schroeder, as if the news hasn't been depressing enough, Oregon fans also have to suffer these a-hole, opinion columnists. These guys are no friend's of the Ducks. Both are all about their own careers and have no other allegiance. The news has me half sick already, why do I need these guys adding to my misery? They are dual afflictions like diarrhea and vomit. Seriously, do LSU fans have to endure this type of crap. Does your local news try to make their careers at the expense of your school? That's sure the way it feels in Eugene. What does this have to do with D. Thomas being a leader, nothing, just me going off on a rant. I'll trust Chip to pick our leaders.
We went through this 'type of crap' with Ryan Perrilloux. But the fans didn't make excuses for him, they turned on him (and rightfully so). As far as discipline, Perrilloux was suspended in 2007, then kicked off the team in 2008. Miles didn't sugar-coat or defend his 'situation' in any way. Chip has lost all of my respect. What does it have to do with DT being a leader? I would say alot. His actions off the field reflect on his character.
Please don't quote John "Clownzano" Canzano! That guy is a D-bag, with nothing but contempt for the Oregon Ducks.
Well, the "type of crap" I was referring to was Canzano and Schroeder. Darren Thomas hasn't gotten into any trouble. He was a passenger in a car. This is old news, rechurned for ratings. What would you do to DT for being a passenger, suspend him, kick him off the team?
Big difference in situations between Perrilloux and Thomas. Perrilloux actually did something. Thomas has not (Yes, Oregon has drug testing). That's why Duck fans are supporting him. I think Harris' suspension is just. He needs to learn that he's not above the team, and that his action affect the team. He'll only see the field this season, if he adheres to the things that have been set before him by Kelly (Academics, paying fines, prove he's part of the team, keeping his nose clean, etc). Regarding DT being in the car with Harris, he needed a ride home from Portland. Unlike Terrell Pryor, DT doesn't drive a different car every few weeks. He doesn't own a car. DT is a good kid. He's already earned his BA in Business, and started the master's program this summer (All while coordinating summer workouts with the team). Sound like a dope smoker to you?
Now that you mention it, I've known quite a few "dope smokers" who were carless... But on a serious note, the fact that he has a degree means nothing for either side of the debate. People who smoke weed aren't inherently less capable of earning a degree. The most logical explanation is that they just smoke in the offseason(when they're not tested).
