The 2008 Battle for the SEC West:

Each team in the SEC-West plays each other, in addition to playing three teams from the SEC-East.

LSU plays Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina
Auburn plays Georgia, Tennessee, and Vandy
Alabama plays Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky
Arkansas plays Florida, South Carolina, and Kentucky
Miss State plays Tennessee, Kentucky, and Vandy
Ole Miss plays Florida, South Carolina, and Vandy

Each team in the SEC-West plays four SEC away games.

LSU's away games are Florida, Auburn, South Carolina, Arkansas
Auburn's away games are Alabama, Miss State, Ole Miss, Vandy
Alabama's away games are LSU, Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas
Arkansas' away games are Auburn, South Carolina, Miss State, Kentucky
Miss State's away games are LSU, Tennessee, Alabama, Ole Miss
Ole Miss' away games are LSU, Florida, Alabama, Arkansas

Is the main reason that Auburn is getting ranked ahead of LSU in the preseason polls because Auburn has an easier schedule that us, and because it might be possible that they will go to the SEC Championship Game, even if we do beat them?

I think LSU plays the toughest three games against the SEC-East. We are the only SEC-West team that has to play both Georgia and Florida. Also, we are the only SEC-West team that doesn't play Kentucky or Vandy.

I think Miss State plays the easiest three games against the SEC-East.

As for away games, I think Auburn has the easiest SEC road schedule and that Alabama has the hardest.

I agree with most of what you say.
But I think Ole Piss' SEC road slate is every bit as tough as Bama's.

In my opinion Ark has the easiest schedule, but I agree with the rest of what you are saying. Anyway you cut it, it isn't going to be easy for anyone who sits a top the SEC West.

I agree with bandit over Arky. I think we are gonna have a hard time with Auburn cause their defense should be lights out and with our untested QB's we are going to have to rely on a healthy O-Line and I hope some injuries on their D.

South Click will be the  for a few in this group of away games.

I agree with the statement regarding Auburns defense. Unless our offense figures it out and we have some sort of solid passing game, a one demensional game against them will not be very successful.

It really is hard to tell.

I think LSU has the hardest SEC schedule this year, and the two teams that come closest to LSU for the hardest schedule are Alabama and Ole Miss.

I think that Auburn has the easiest SEC schedule this year, and that the two teams that come closest to Auburn for the easiest schedule are Miss State and Arkansas.

I don't think Auburn is better than LSU, but I think they stand a better probability of going to the SEC Championship (where they will probably get beaten).

Does anybody disagree that LSU has the hardest SEC schedule this year of any team in the West? Or would you give that title to Alabama or Ole Miss?

Auburn's 3 toughest games are all at home (UT, LSU, Georgia), advantage Auburn

Honestly, I think Moo U. has the coziest of any of the SEC East opponents. Kentucky will not be as good as last year, Vandy is Vandy, and Tennessee doesn't strike the fear into anyone these days, not that they ever did.

I don't expect them to seriously contend for the SEC West crown, but they will not be as easy an out as they have been in the past.
