Top 10 are: Texas Georgia Notre Dame LSU UCLA Florida Pittsburg Clemson Auburn Ohio State I expect schools like Pitt and Clemson to drop off a bit as the real numbers come in. Texas, at 24 commits will probably not gain many more, if any. LSU is the highest ranked team with less than 15 recruits... This bodes well if LSU can continue to pick guys up.
LSU also has the 6th highest star rating at 3.54, with the highest being 3.75. Actually if you remove the JUCO transfer Anthony Boudreaux (who for whatever reason receives zero stars) out of the equation, LSU's average is 3.83. I assume Boudreaux will receive some kind of rating later on down the line. 3 of the 13 recruits are in the rivals top 100 (Woods #14, Tillman #32, Scott #79) Looks very good at this point in the recruiting season. With only 13 recruits thus far, LSU should be able to maintain no worse than a top 10 finish, and more than likely a top 5.
Looks like Ramah's gonna have to resend his comments about Miles' recruiting ability... This is a heck of a recruiting class we've got going so far. I think Miles beating Florida saturday & getting LSU to the SECCG would bode well for him in not only this, but future recruiting classes.
much of this class is directly attributed to success under saban which is why following the legend is a no-win situation. his true merit as a coach among his peers and/or football community will be based on what he does to build his own program with his mark in the years following this one. he semi-succeeded with that at OSU recently. Taking saban's stocked cupboard is a curse as well as a blessing. surely im not gonna argue this year won't be considered Miles' first recruiting class at LSU yet surely no one can dismiss its not a direct result of Les himself. probably a handful of players at most.
Certainly this program's recent success is a part of the reason these recruits come here (Saban's doing), but they wouldn't come if Miles didn't recruit them & they didn't believe Miles could maintain that high level of success. So, I would say it IS a direct effect of Les himself & rather an indirect effect of Saban. To take away Saban's influence would be foolish, but I think to not give Miles & his staff credit would be even more foolish.
not true. many players influenced by LSU's recent success would attend regardless. To give Miles credit for the majority of current recruits is faulty logic to me. some not most.
The best part is that 20 years from now if he is still here and doing well, people will STILL give Nick Saban all the credit! :hihi: CParso, as usual, you are dead on!
How can you say that? Recent success means relatively nothing to them. They care about future success (which is often indirectly affected by previous success), while they are there at the program. They commit to be a part of the success, which they believe Miles will uphold. Some of our recruits would probably attend LSU regardless because they have grown up being LSU fans, but IMO that isn't recruiting - that's just extending scholarships. Any schmuck can do that & that will never result in top 5 classes, which Miles will likely (possibly?) land.
let's put it this way. would he have a top 5 recruiting class at Oklahoma State this year? probably not.
