We all thought the same thing about Landon Collins. I really believe Fournette will end up at LSU, but you just never know what goes on the in the head of a youngster. One thing is for certain, Poppa Fournette is MUCH MORE assertive than Poppa Collins was. MUCH more. The fact that he's stated his preference (albeit off the record) gives me comfort.
Landon Collins was boarderline the entire process and many thought he was going to Bama from the start. Fournette is a completely different animal.
Collins might not start at Bama this year, but he's still a very good player who I wish would have been a Tiger... http://www.timesdaily.com/sports/alabama_football/article_a0acd7fe-0c5e-11e3-aec0-0019bb30f31a.html
LOL! That girlfriend had nothing to do with that. It was just icing on the cake. People thought Bama offered the girlfriend out of desperation when they actually did it basically because he asked them to.
I hear you. But with all due respect, even you thought Collins was locked up. Everything is in our favor, but it's definitely not a done deal.
I was back and forth on him throughout the process. The last visit to LSU before leaving to the Under Armour game he told the LSU coaches in front of his dad and brother he was going to pick LSU hence my feeling we had him locked up. Girlfriend had a ton to do with it as well. Totally different situations.
We both agree that the subject of this thread is in great position to land here. But regarding Collins, maybe you were wavering internally, but in that thread, to us, you consistently said LSU was in the driver's seat. And that is perfectly fine. Recruiting is as inexact a science as meteorology. It's not uncommon for these kids to play the game. They want the attention but don't want the scrutiny that goes along with that attention. But the truth, straight from the mouth of the babe, is that we were never in the driver's seat. And the truth is that the girlfriend did not have as big of an impact as people think. The truth is she was going to Bama, scholarship or not because she was following him. He wasn't following her. Regardless, it was a slimeball move. I'm not comparing his situation to Fournette. You are absolutely right that he is a completely different animal and their situation's are different. The only thing I'm saying is, like Collins, and any other recruit for that matter, you never know what's going on in these kids' heads. And it's certainly not a done deal, although it would be if it was up to his father. I would bet you and I both are a whole lot more confident about Fournette than we are about Cam Robinson! Isn't his sister transferring to Bama or some nonsense like that? Or am I thinking of someone else? Please don't think I'm trying to argue with you. I'm not. You have been invaluable to this board with your insider knowledge on the team in general and recruiting. I, and everyone else I'm sure, appreciate that.
