Is there anything to read into this? Seems that USC has been removed from the LF tour and LSU is now officially named. It was mostly believed that LSU didn't need to be on the list because of the number of visits he already has made. Still looks like it will come down to LSU - Bama. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...m_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=lsu-football How much would the emergence of Anthony Jennings influence Fournette's direction? The press about our future QB is pretty impressive and the more I learn about him the more excited I am about our teams to come. It's not always just about where you can go play and win a national championship alone. Program energy and excitement are a pretty strong draw. Right now LSU is developing that formula. There truly is a potential in that program for a number of championships. Oh and Cameron is pretty good with RB's, not just QB's ....
If Fournette goes to Bama it's going to be because there aren't 5 or 6 studs at running back he has to compete with.
I'm afraid that we can say the same thing about LSU. Looking at this year's backs... > Blue --- a Sr --- gone next year, hopefully a high pick to the NFL > Hillard --- a Jr --- with a good year &/or Hill having a great year, may be gone to NFL, if not, just one more year left > Hill --- a So --- Should be our number one back next year, if not this year > Magee --- a Jr --- Almost for sure back for next year, but not a proven number one. Hope he surprises us. > Brazil --- a Fr --- Fairly light for an "every down back" Projecting (my guess) next year's backs coming backs and how they will fall on the depth chart... (1) Hill (2014 will almost certainly be his last year at LSU and then off to NFL) (2) Magee (a sr in 2014) (3) Brazil (back but as a change of pace back) (4) Palelei (freshman) That's a far cry from 5 or 6 Studs that Forunette will need to compete with and looking at 2015 --- Magee is gone, Hill will probably be gone, Brazil is a smaller back and Palelei is not a lot bigger --- That would leave Fournette as the top back his So year. We really need Forunette and at least one more back recruited in this recruiting class.
Guys like Fournette believe in themselves and then what makes them tick kicks in. He ain't worried about no stinkin competition. Last week he made a trip to Tuscaloosa with the two Camerons, Robinson and Sims. Sims to make his announcement this afternoon. These are good players and I expect a real dog fight to reel them in.
Bama recruited 4 stud RB in last years class. One if which broke the national rushing record. Not to mention Yeldon, who I think is a true sophomore this season. Much, much racier time to receive early PT at LSU than at Bama. Starting rotation next year would be hill/fournette with Hilliard in backup. He would be a fool to pick Bama over LSU, if early PT is biggest factor
Hill is draft eligible after this year. If he looks anything like he did last year he's gone and will probably be the first or second back taken. Hilliard might go too if he grades anywhere in the first three or four rounds. Twins don't feed themselves. Bama is more loaded at the position for the future than we are. Not that it should be a reason for him to choose us but it should play a factor. Tusk is right there. Guys like him don't shy away from competition. He'll choose based on who he thinks gives him the best chance to not only play but make it to the next level. He can't go wrong either way. The only thing that worries me is...guys like him also don't want to split a game's worth of carries with three other guys. I've felt for a while that we platoon because we have that many good guys and none of them really separate themselves enough to warrant the mother load...until Hill emerged late last year and got most of the carries late in the year. From what I'm told on a firsthand account on him, he's very unselfish and wants to do whatever to help his team win, but if he's truly the best he won't settle for 12 carries per game. BUT, he also won't play LB which was once suggested at the other school...even though he could. Poppa Fournette wants him in BR. We shall see...
I haven't seen the kid play or know anyone that knows him so ill defer to you on him, and I hope you are right, and I hope he loves Louisiana because he could, if he lives up to all the hype, be a household name in this great state for YEARS to come, even after he's long gone.
From what I saw on twitter... he announced his Mixhigan, Bama, and LSU visits but no one else. He aint going to Mich so...
