LSU Offers Scholarship To Ex-Dawg Zach Mettenberger by Holly Anderson • Sep 14, 2010 5:28 PM EDT LSU has officially offered a scholarship to former Georgia quarterback Zach Mettenberger, currently slingin' balls at Butler Community College. Are we sure this just isn't a really late scholarship offer from Miles to a kid he thinks is still a high school senior? We are not, but LSU fans seem happy enough: LSU Offers Scholarship To Ex-Dawg Zach Mettenberger - From Our Editors - SBNation.com
As a father of two daughters (10/8) I agree with Berge. However, there are always two sides to the story and i think Mettenberger's comments about the incident shows remorse and maturity. Does an 18 year kid deserve a second chance after taking his medicine the right way?
A lot of attention will surely be paid to his being booted from UGA. There was an incident involving alcohol and girls and fake ids. Does that mean he's a bad apple? Or was it just a stupid mistake by a young kid? Hard to say, but to be landing interest from D1 schools that tells me schools are either impressed with his talent enough to overlook it or not worried about it. As a father of 6 and 2 boys they have all made mistakes! I have made mistakes - No way I will hold this thing against him that I don't have real facts on. Hard facts could change my mind but with what I know - play ball:miles:
miles generally goes after quality recruits with character, so perhaps the guy is remorseful and is determined to prove everyone wrong? this isn't a masoli or perrilloux, IMO. he's a guy. he likes girls. he was a bit too forceful in pursuing them, but he's probably used to pulling whatever he wanted in high school. it's a rough transition from being "the man" in high school to being just "another football player" in college. he overstepped his boundaries and maybe he did learn his lesson?
