247sports lists the kid at 5'11". http://www.wbrz.com/news/zachary-qb-lindsey-scott-receives-lsu-offer-weighs-decision (video) Seems like a pretty good kid. I now my friends in Zachary love him...
I hope he is a legit 5' 11" and not stretching it. Herb Tyler was listed 6' 0". If we had a QB like Herb next year, we would be awesome.
Is Drew Brees a legit 6'0"? Last night I heard an interview with a Tom Rathmann they said was a QB at LSU from 1994 to 1997. I had never heard of him and I thought they must have mistaken him for the Tom Rathman who played fullback for Nebraska and the 49ers but no! This Tom Rathman is now a chiropractor and supposedly a quarterback guru. (How do you get to be a quarterback guru when you have never been a great quarterback yourself? Trent Dilfer is a quarterback guru now too.) Anyway Rathman said that shorter QB's like Drew Brees and Russell Wilson can be effective by increasing the depth of their dropbacks a little deeper than a tall QB needs to drop back. It increases their field of vision. Rathman said he has been working with Lindsey Scott, Jr since the 9th grade and even though he has played in a spread offense in high school that he would be able to quickly adapt to a pro style offense. Let's hope so if he comes here.
LSU was 26-5 with Herb Tyler as a starter with a lot less talent than LSU has now. Tyler was a winner.
