What type of offensive balance will LSU have this year? My prediction is 60% running and 40% passing. The reason: The O line will be fantastic this year, and running behind that line with our great backs will take the pressure off of the QBs. Any other thoughts?

:geaux: Agree with your prediction. Certainly see the Tigers running the majority of the time, especially with Ware, Ford & Co. Anxious to see if / how much JJ has improved under Kragthorpe. Surely hope he's ready to go out with a bang his senior year. I certainly don't mind throwing 40% of the time, as long as it's an effective 40%. Don't think I could stand watching our receiving corps waste away again this season. :dis: Just hope that if JJ ain't cutting it, that Mett will be ready to go. :thumb: :LSU231:

Tough call until we know that we have an SEC-caliber quarterback.

The good news for us is that's an unanswered question for almost half the SEC this year.

How good of a QB coach is Krag? At Louisville, the offensive stats went down every year he was there. They went from the 4th best in the country in passing in 2007, to 63rd in 2008, to 71st in 2009. Rushing stats went down as well. Not sure how much of that has to do with the conference they play in, or the ability of the recruiters to get players in there, but to drop from 4th to 71st in passing in just 3 years can be telling. Sure he was the head coach, so maybe he gave to much rope to his OC. Chip Kelly still works with the QB's at Oregon. You'd think if the stats are dropping that much, that Krag would have his hand in there trying to fix it.

Silver lining is, he's better than Crowton!

:geaux: From all reports Krag is really making a difference with JJ and the other QB's as a whole. Is he a miracle worker, probably not. But he's "hands on" with his QB's while Crowton reportedly was not. And although his tenure at Louisville wasn't the best, he's had great success with QB's at other places he's been. We'll see how successful he's been with JJ on Sept. 3rd. in Dallas, and I'm willing to bet we and Oregon will see an improved JJ in Jerry's House. :thumb:

And yeah, I think he'll be better than Crowton too. :LSU231:

don't mind you hanging but don't try to bring the dark cloud to South Louisiana - seems like you should be worried about about the clouds forming around Kelly !!

The fact that Krag has football players and great support will prove out that what he did before his last HC job will show to be what he really is all about !

You guys will find out first hand !

I think the biggest thing is playing to our strengths and going with it 100%.

JJ is clearly not the best game-day QB, though he doesn’t need to be. As LSU fans, I think we can all agree that we JJ is required to think, he blows…….BUT when he reacts, he shines. I believe this to be fact.

I think he is very mobile and should be used as such. I think play action works well with him and I think that a strong O’line/running game will only make his job easier.

I expect a 50-60% run team….But JJ still needs to get a deep ball going to keep the D’s honest…..

I think it's a valid question, and in reality we all know where the playbook is coming from don't we? I mean does anyone actually think Les is going to just let Krag bring in a new playbook? It's going to be a Les Miles approved playbook, with Les Miles approved plays, and Krag will call plays based on a set of plays that Les has greenlit for whatever opponent we are facing.

Krag was brought in to fix Jordan Jefferson in my opinion, and be a quarterbacks coach/playcaller, not Charlie Weis and the complete offensive coordinator.

Get real. You don't sign an top offensive coordinator for $700,000 and not let him run the offense.
