LSU is 11/5 odds to win the SEC. This is the same odds as Bama. Are these odds right on or do they need some tweaking?

I think LSU's odds are about right...Alabama's are too good. LSU plays Alabama at home at least while they have to go to both Baton Rouge AND Fayetteville. Also, Alabama lost the guts of their defense + LSU is better than they were last season. Arkansas has the schedule advantage but they still haven't proven they know how to play defense. From the east, still looks like a stepchild. South Carolina would have a shot IF they can keep Lattimore on the field and IF they can field a decent QB...I like their defense a lot.

You've got that right. Now with John L. Smith at the helm, Arkansas just might not even show up on defense. All that dude worries about is his offense and how crazy he can talk to reporters o_O

I know John L Smith used to coach Michigan State but that was several years ago and I don't keep up that much with MSU so you probably know more about him than I do. But are you saying that Smith actually cares LESS than Petrino does who has never shown at Louisville, Atlanta Falcons, or Arkansas that he even knows who plays defense for his team?

I'm eternally optimistic about Bama's chances to win the SEC. I try to keep in mind the recent SEC media poll out of Hoover. They like LSU. It seems in the last 20 years , back to when this whole crazy split division thing happened, they have hit the lotto only 4 times. It may not be the death wish Corso's predictions routinely are, but 4 out of 20 ain't chop liver. I'm optimistic.

You are correct, sir, about he dismal predictions of SEC winners by both media and even coaches. However, this Alabama team looks strangely similar to the one in 2010 that won a lot of games but really was never in contention for a NC or even SEC title. They lost a ton of people on defense and I have seen no Alabama RB play that remotely has the skills of Richardson...certainly not Lacey. And once again, they have the schedule in their favor last year with Arkansas and LSU going there. This year the two toughest SEC opponents are on the road. Lose one of those and it is long odds to even make to the SEC CG, much less win it. Oh, and for the record, watch out for "@Missouri". Missouri is my dark horse to win the SEC East in their first year in the conference. I think it will be South Carolina but Missouri is way underrated and you guys get them ON THE ROAD! On a positive note, savor probably the last year of beating up Derek Dooley...after 2012, my guess is you won't have Dooley to kick around anymore. :)

I appreciate your concern about Bama historical perspectives. Now when you say strangely familiar, I'm thinking, crimson helmets, white pants, national championships. All historical traditions. You saw the Bama preseason talent labeled all-SEC, bout the same as my brethren in the land of purple. The talent level is so incredible high right now, it defies my ability to hyperbole about it. TR is gone, long live TR. EL ain't chop liver, but he is from the Bayou, and yes, that still stings just a little. TJ, Dee Hart and Fowler all have a nice ceiling and offer dramatic changing styles. Know it would be impossible to say to you, why not just wait and see who these blue-bloods are, on the field, but patience and the idea, seeing is believing, didn't motivate your paragraphs.

So I will say, that it's coming down to BR on a Saturday NIGHT. And here is the best part, if you truly are into Bama history, we have always enjoyed tiger stadium, even more, when the sun goes down.

 I have no concern about Alabama historical perspectives, just telling it like I see it. As far as "hyperbole" yeah you actually demonstrated the ability to use it, so much in fact that I donned some boots to walk through the "hyperbole". LSU didn't offer Lacey and I see why...he would be about 4th string on LSU right now. Richardson BTW would have been 1st string. Anyway, keep throwing the smack out but just don't strain a muscle or anythying. Like I say, you will LOSE that game and have a pretty good chance to lose either the Arkansas or Missouri games. Count on 2 conference losses, Ivory boy, and no rematch this time in the NC game. For YOUR team to be in Miami, they are going to have to buy block seats. Read it...learn it...believe it.

Wow, I'm looking forward to the Bama team reporting to fall practice and you've managed to make it to national signing day.
