That sounds great, but PS has a pretty good DL and the LSU line wasn't impressive this year. Is it just a gut feeling or do you see something in the matchup that makes you feel our OL will have the upper hand?
He could be if we would use him correctly. The guy reminds me of a "reggie bush style runner". Give him open field then good things happen otherwise he is a mediocre back at best. That is why I say throw the ball to him and then lets see what happens one on one with the safetys. I'll put my money on Trindon. :tigereye:
get the dude one block and he's gone. that's the problem though, the line can't give him a decent block. when they do give him the block, he goes off.
Contrary to traditional analysis, it all starts with the pass. Quick passes, get the ball out of Jefferson's hands, and into the receivers. Quickly. Immediately. Sooner or later the backers start watching receivers, then we run. Again, it seems simple. So simple. hwr
Because of Reuban Randle coming on the way he has, and TT playing well, LaFell is getting more catches. I think our recievers have a huge game, but it all depends on how accurate and confident JJ is. If Scott plays and plays well, I think PSU will have their hands full with our bowl game offense. Everyone had questions about JJ, our offense and our defense last year going into the GT game, we handled them well.
The thing that they fear about Trindon is the speed. According to them their ST play all around this year has been BAD. Apparently OSU returned several punts against them not for TD's but great field position and scored on the drive and they mentioned that none of the OSU returners had near Trindon's speed. So I guess that would be a legit concern for them.
Like most quarterbacks Jordan Jefferson's play will likely hinge upon the performance of his O-line. Also, LSU could have Jerry Rice, Lynn Swann and Fred Biletnikoff at WRs and Jim Brown at RB but if the O-line can't block PSU's defensive front than it won't matter how good any of the skill players are. I do believe LSU will have a special teams advantage. Remember Iowa beat PSU at Beaver Stadium because of a blocked punt returned for a TD. I've always thought Trindon has had a depth perception issue judging punts at night, so I'm glad this game's at 1 p.m. EST.
True, in part, the blocked punt helped get us going... but remember PSU scored on a long pass the first play of the game... when our corner thought he had safety help... the pass in the rain looked more like a bad punt than a pass... after that ONE play.. PSU managed 3 points the rest of the game.... at home. Then against tOSU, again at home, PSU had one decent drive for their only score... and finished the game with a grand total of 9 first downs and 7 points. This year there were four Big Ten teams ranked in the top 20 nationally for total D.... OSU, Iowa, PSU and Wisconsin. PSU could do nothing against Iowa and tOSU and didn't play Wisconsin. Unless JoePa can find some holes in the LSU defense, which I doubt, this game could be more of the same for PSU. As much as you guys have struggled offensively, you still have more fire power than this year's version of the Nittany Lions. And to the PSU fans visiting this forum, I have great respect for PSU. It just happens that this year you've really struggled against teams who have a pulse on defense. Given you can play D, too, I suspect special teams will play a big role... and this doesn't bode well for the Fighting JoePa's... pretty much at the bottom in net punting, punt returns, etc., whereas LSU leads pretty much everyone in these st categories. ... it is what it is....
