I know there's gonna be some negative response on the rankings, but I am very encouraged. We all know we were better than 8-5. Obviously, so do the people polled. We have the worst record of any team close to our preseason rank. To me, this is respect to coach Miles. I've seen alot of coaches given the kind of talent we have on this team and squander it with terrible playcalling for a whole season. I know as many Tiger fans know that our biggest problem was a QB which bled into our defense mindset. The voters in this pole realize that last year for the LSU Tiger football team has NO relevence on how we'll do this year (except of course being pissed off enough to take it out on teams on the field this season) I'm Stoked. Let's play some football.
No, we were every bit as bad as 8-5 last year and perhaps a little worse than that. This year though, the top ten ranking does fit the team.
We had a 10-3 team with a 5-8 QB and met in the middle. We certainly didn't have the defense to win it all last year, but we could have beaten Arkansas, Bama, and maybe Georgia with average to above average QB play.
