This is going to happen! No way we lose games with the best OL & DL combined in America. Auburn is going down. Florida will be favored by a point or two at game time at most, if they are unbeaten. I see a # 3 LSU at home whipping a Georgia team, shutting their run down and making Bradford run for his life. I just hope we're not dealt a bad hand by the AP poll. LSU deserves to be even better than # 5, and in the next two months they'll prove it on the field. The defense will be surprisingly better in 2008, and they'll show it early and often. This is the year of the CHEESE!
The '08 has done nothing yet to deserve anything. Top five has to be EARNED. Preseason rankings just serve to ratchet up the excitement and interest in the games before they begin. I'm sure when it comes down to it, they're more of a ratings tool than anything else.
The AP has no bearing on LSU's season. It would only matter if we were concerned with using that as the basis of a NC claim, and I only know one team that has done that.
In looking at OU's schedule, it appears they have a legit shot at going undefeated. I think a Vince-less Texas cannot beat OU. I think Kansas will be a one hit wonder. OU doesn't have to play Mizzou, although they probably will face them in the championship. Payback is a....... LSU vs OU for the BCS title once again.
I like it!!! My overall point was this: If there are 3 or more undefeated/ 1-Loss teams at the end of the season, that's the order I believe the teams will be selected. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
You are right in assuming that the psychological aspects of trying to go wire to wire will be pretty daunting, but Georgia definately does have the firepower and defense to beat everybody. Richt was the OC at FSU when they went wire to wire there, so I think he realistically knows what he is up against. In terms of talent, I'm more concerned about a rash of injuries than what opponents can bring to the field. Georgia has a few other extremely talented playmakers that are still very much under the radar. Meanwhile, from what I have heard from insiders, the Georgia coaches are more concerned about Auburn than any other team in the SEC this season. I guess we'll all find out why in a few weeks...
