#6 in USA Today Poll Unfortuneatly, it takes a good preseason ranking to get to the nat'l championship game in alot of scenarios. Number six gets us in the running. Usually, the other Polls are pretty close. I figured no 9 or 10, I didn't expect no 6. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/2008-07-31-top-25-capsules_N.htm 29 days and counting................ View attachment 11222
I figure this is most likely coaches who firmly believe that a team should be no. 1 until they lose it.
IMO, here is the order teams will be selected for the BCS NCG this year: 1.) USC/Ohio State winner if unbeaten or 1- Loss 2.) SEC Champ if undefeated or 1-Loss (FLA, LSU or UGA) 3.) Big 12 Champ if undefeated or 1-Loss (OK, Mizzou, Texas, Kansas) 4.) ACC Champ if undefeated or 1- Loss 5.) PAC 10 Champ if undeated, 1-Loss and NOT named USC 6.) Big East Champ if undefeated, or 1-Loss I've based this off of a) media perception, b) how well or poorly a conference has done in BCS games, c) overall perception of said conference. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
That would be pretty incredible. The only time LSU has ever beaten the #1-ranked team at Tiger Stadium was #1 Florida in 1997. Here is Georgia's schedule up until the LSU game: 1--Georgia Southern 2--Central Mich 3--@ South Carolina 4--@ Arizona State 5--Alabama 6--Tennessee 7--Vandy 8--@ LSU
This may sound ridiculous, but that's OK...this is a forum. I say UGA comes into Tiger Stadium 5-2, ranked #21 and falling. JOMO.
Not beyond the realm. I would not be surprised at all at that scenario, though my preference is they are still #1 when we knock the inordinately large chip of their shoulder. At the end of the day, the OL and DL we have are just going to blow everyone away. The rest should fall into place. I feel very good about the Georgia game.
My wine dinners tend to run a little long. Louisiana boys are about the endurance, not the sprint. :yelwink2:
I feel this way as well. If the OL can stay relatively healthy. Uncertainty at QB is not necessarily the same thing as trouble at QB. And if the D can keep the points low, and the OL can protect the QB, then AH and JL have a chance to get in a groove by Auburn and be clicking on all cylinders by UGA.
