Etling should be better after an offseason with Canada. He will be able to clean up any obstacles that are hindering better production from Etling. Canada has a history of working with what he has to get the most out of them. Our receivers will be better as well because now they have some passes coming their way from Etling. This is crucial in having a cohesive unit. There have been many receivers who have said it takes time to get used to new quarterbacks. They all have a season together now and they will have an offseason with a better OC which should help them to look better next year. As far as Etling's arm their are plenty of quarterbacks who were very successful without a strong arm. In fact there are many cannons out there who have accomplished nothing, so I don't buy that as a handicap. Scheme and execution is what wins not just a strong arm. The qb we played today was a physical specimen and accomplished absolutely squat. With the defense we have and the running game all we need is average passing and we can beat anybody. Kelly lit up Alabama for over 40 points and still lost the game because his team was not balanced. Etling will be fine with better qb being groomed behind him. I think its better to have our young guys come in an learn while Etling plays his last season with us and they will be better prepared to take over in 18.
If LSU were to start Brennan/Narcisse next year ISL would be the first one starting threads about how terrible their play is. Threads about how Canada and O have to go. Come on man, this is a serious overreach. Sure, I wish we could have a more capable QB than Etling. He does lack the arm strength to make a lot of necessary throws. However, he is gamer, who comes to play(outside of the Bama game). With the right play calling he is good enough to help LSU beat anyone. I'm interested to see how Harris does with actual coaching. I feel for him because at many other schools he would be putting up impressive numbers. Sadly, just one season probably won't be enough so I doubt he gets the job. As for Brennan/Narcisse, they both need to sit for various reasons. Brennan has to put on size, he is way too small for SEC play. As for Narcisse, he has to learn a bit more as a passer. I two years we could have a great battle for the starting QB.
It's hard to believe we saw his best stuff under the hat. That said Etling looked light years ahead when Miles and Cameron were still here, so maybe he just isn't capable. But Etling was also a transfer, so he couldn't be fouled up by the $1.5 million man and his sire.
Y'all been duped by the all too common reverse mojo. This offseason should be epic in terms of not gonna be fooled again. Or will you? Good Luck with that.
A change was made. You can choose to believe it was another folly, I'm not. I'm excited to see what's coming, I think some good moves have been made. Most negatigers were not this bad.
