It was encouraging after etling made the horrible throw away int, his next time he had to throw the ball away he threw it into the dirt at the feet of his reciever. That alone shows growth. The guy might not be our long term QB but he is a huge step up and he can learn from his errors.
Will be Etling, Scott and Brennan in the Fall. I'll even predict that Harris and McMillian will transfer out after the conclusion of Spring practice. I personally don't get the fascination with Dual Threat QB's that so many of the kiddies have. True DT's are rare, because most labeled "DT" can't competently throw the football.............
I think we were watching different game. Our special teams weren't great but other wise it was an ass stomping against a pretty good team. We shut them down not allowing a td and frankly the game wasn't as close as the score showed. I say let Canada get his o in place get a good sp team coach and we are a very dangerous team.
Someone smart once made the comment all a duel threat QB is a QB who is just decent at two things running and throwing. I agree most are this way, every once and a while you get a freak of nature that can do both exceptionally well. Give me a good/great o line and a pocket passer all day long.
He'll be a Senior in 2017, so there's no way he could be "Long Term" anyway. I think he'll be the starter through next season though. Canada will make him even better than he is showing now. (As he will with Scott and Brennan) Looking forward to seeing what Brennan will bring to the table in the passing game as a true freshman. Scott is supposed to be pretty similar to Hurts at Alabama, in that he picks stuff up pretty quickly and can throw the football. Don't think he's tall enough to be an effective passer in the SEC though. Both he and Brennan will need to gain solid muscular weight as well or they'll be broken in half...............
Point is, no matter the coach, no matter the quarterback, there are always people who demand perfection, and may not even accept that, if its not delivered by "their" guy.
This is correct it was only 217, but Tirk makes a great point of pass/run ratio the likes we never saw with Les. That being said, Etling was not very good out there today with a game plan that was tailored for him to easily throw for 350. And like I said, he threw up two jump balls that somehow our receivers were able to corale, otherwise it's 142 yards.
Damn izzy, u is crazy. It seems nothing short of perfection is good enough. Relax mang. No one is getting fooled by anything. You say 'take away the 2 jump balls' and Etling's stats suck, but you can't do that. You might as well say 'take away the 70 yard run for Guice and he only has 68 yards rushing' or 'take away our 29 pts and Louisville wins'. Ridiculous, right? Canda is already on the record as saying his offense will be designed around the strengths and skill set of his players, not the other way around like we've seen for years, so that's lagniappe right there. Alls I'm basically saying is, you may be right about everything, but today is not the day to bitch and moan about it. Save it for next season. It will still be there for you, if you need it, but hopefully you won't.
Take away Tom Bradys rag arm and he may have 3 more super bowl rings. He hasn't thrown a deep pass in a decade. See how this works. When it comes to football izzy you know if you're not on my side you're probably on the losing end. I see you're backtracking so we'll pretend we never saw this so you can save what street cred you have left. And I'll be here to keep you grounded. I just can't let you start the new year on the tainted side of the pool.
