Please feel free to post any comments, make any suggestions, or make a class of your own. I am just making educated guesses on how their stars will end up, not necessarily what they are right now. Even if you are very conservative, why in God's name would you be happy with a top 15 class? We have finished considerably higher than that under Miles and have a legitimate chance to contend for the NCG. We are also picked by most publications to be pre-season top 2-5. We will win huge this year, possibly a NC and we will recruit even bigger this year and the next as a result. I admit being a homer but this is way too timid a prediction.
Yeah I hope we do much better than top 15 this year. With how big the program is now and all the success and the great recruiting classes the past few years, I think anything less than top 6 or 7 should be considered a dissapointment.
Realistically, it's probably going to be a class in the 9-15 range. The state of LA is in a down year as far as '08 recruits. It's next year when the crop of recruits is really strong. Unless some recruiting surprise happen, ckalch's guesses are pretty good IMO. That said, signing day is 8 months away and alot can/will happen.
That looks about right, but of course there will be some people that don't pop up until late in the process, etc. It will be a good class. It just won't have the stars at the top of it that we're used to seeing. We'll probably finish around 10th or so in the country. There's nothing wrong with that and it isn't very dissapointing. LB, OT, and CB are our biggest needs in this class. The only thing dissapointing to me so far is that we don't appear to be in the hunt for any big time LB prospects.
By comparison...Illinois was ranked 17th in recruiting for 2007....ILLINOIS!!! ...a team that hasn't played for a conference title since, what? 2001???
Yeah, that is a bit disappointing. I guess with Cutrera, Riley, Odom and Theriot, the coaching staff feels pretty confident with them for the next year or two before reloading...
I never said I would be happy with a class ranked number 15 in the country, I simply stated it would be OK if we do. 2007 was a fantastic class as will be 2009. Even this will be a great class regardless of where recruiting experts have us rated. I think that if we get all of the prospects listed above we will finish somewhere between 8-12, which is a great year considering the shortage of talent in Louisiana. I have faith in Les Miles and his staff. We will be fine even if we aren't a top five class this year. LSU! :geauxtige LSU!
This class will have good football players and students. It dosen't matter how many stars the expers place by thier names; it only mattters if they can play football and represent LSU well. ST
Does anybody know if we tried to recruit the #1 QB in the country this year T.Pryor from PA. Whose been called the "Next Vince Young" plus he also wants to play Basketball also. Just wondering if we even made an attempt or not?
