Lets not forget here folks, The Tigers did OK, obvious will still have a ways to go, but I'll give MSU some credit, they gave a good Auburn team all they could handle. Lets remember...this is the SEC! Tiger secondary is gonna get a major test against Tbone, they better step it up... damn soon:tigereye:
I'll be as presumptive as you. I was rooting for black quarterbacks at LSU before you were born. I drove to Knoxville to watch Carl Otis Trimble play on the freshman team vs UT freshmen. He ran up and down the field all game long and led our freshmen to a big victory.. I was as excited as any fan when he was named the starting quarterback for the Tigers. I was a big fan of James Harris, the ex Grambling great, who almost led the LA Rams to an NFL title. I still remember the play that cost them that opportunity. Harris led them to the goal line. It was third and goal from the one when Tom Mack, an All Pro offensive guard, moved prior to the snap. They failed to score the TD as time ran out. I watched Auburn vs Tennessee yesterday. Their quarterback play was painful to watch. I even felt sympathy for Fullmer and Tubby. Both those teams would love to have Lee, Hatch, or Jefferson.
Great starting post, Bandit. I agree with all of your assessments. I would add that another bright spot was the play of KW. He looked to run the ball hard on the few touches and catches that he got. Obviously, CS is the man, and he should get the bulk of carries, but KW finally looked like he was running with purpose again. RMurphy looked pretty good, too. Additionally, the receivers, esp. LaFell, looked great. Secondary will continue to come around, and when RJF and CAlexander are back healthy, defense will be excellent. Lastly, BDalfrey looks like he is getting comfortable punting now, and that is a great thing.
Didn't we see it toward the end of the game when he hit 18 across the middle? I need to watch the replay...
The big bright spot is Lee. He seems to be getting better and better. While the offensive line seemed to struggle opening up holes, MSU came to play and their defensive line showed it.
My biggest concern with Lee is his seeming inability to not put the ball in jeopardy on a screen pass. I think we tried 2 yesterday and the results were almost the same as the 1 he attempted during the first half in Auburn. Other than that I thought he looked pretty good. I thought I even sae him moving his head and checking the field on passes and not eying his primary. The D looked good, but not great, against a bad offense. We have some work to do, but the good news is so does UF.
