sure looked to me that cjj was completely outclassed. hopefully its just youth but this team isnt really that young. surprisingly some still have lsu in.
This team won't make the NCAA tourney. Not good enough on the road, and just not consistent enough. At least I don't think so. This team is really missing a big guard. A 6'5 - 6'6 guy that can create his own shot.
i dont think lsu has ever had one of those. a few were 6'4 with shoes. and only one of them in last 20 yrs. i think you should lower the bar a little.
I'm not willing to write them off just yet but they definitely need to start putting together some momentum. Feels like every time we start building some MO we take a night off and just shit the bed. To make the tournament we need to mature and play more consistent D. Do that and get a few wins in the SEC tournament and we might squeak our way in.
We decided not to make the short trip for the game tonight. Does anyone know if a typical sports bar would be showing the game in the Houston area tonight? I'm a little confused about CSS network and how Comcast dropped it or something(?). There are quite a few places near me in north Houston (Tailgator's, BWW, Twin Peaks, Stadia Grill) and thought I'd ask before giving them a call if necessary. I have a few friends that wanted to get together if it's on.
I don't post very often, but I was at the game in College Station tonight as I live there, and I was thoroughly embarrassed by our team tonight. The Aggies are horrible and are getting no support -- only 4782 brave souls showed up. You should read txags.com and see how the Aggies have jumped off of that derailed train. I would have never thought, even as bad as we've played on the road, that we would have that kind of lack of effort tonight. They only scored 36 against Florida and had 43 at the half against us. I'm hoping that our youth is showing and that we will work hard to get better. I know we can, but I pray that we will get better in the next couple of years. I'll keep cheering too and we'll get our chance to be great.
Like I said, NIT at best. Johnny needs to show me a LOT in the coaching department the next few seasons.
Here we go. Right after a loss, on cue, negatigers come out to pounce. Their defense wasn't the best, for sure, and they were out rebounded. That was the key. Seemed a bit fatigued on that end, perhaps pressing wore them out? One thing that A&M did well was deal w/ that press. I think that surprised the Tigers, and A&M was able to get easy baskets which kept us from getting back in it. I was actually pleased w/the effort in the second half, A&M was just able to thwart any runs we had, then we started throwing up too many 3s. These guys are out there fighting hard and want to win. I applaud their effort, even in a loss. As far as CJJ goes, in my mind he's been a pleasant surprise overall. He's recruiting his butt off, the team has a lot of new faces, are young and gelling. It may not meet your personal expectations, but, by and large, fan expectations are unrealistic and impatient. That really extends beyond sports in modern America. It's fine to be disappointed, but CJJ doesn't need to show you or me anything. They are 15-8, and an improvement from recent past teams. Just being in the conversation for NCAA is an improvement. CJJs got 'em going in the right direction. Ups and downs are to be expected. Just gotta stay patient.
I was skeptical of the Jones hire from the beginning, and I haven't kept that a secret. Having said that, he's earned at least as much time as Trent has to take ownership of his team and make big strides. Certainly the talent level is a step above what we've had recently. As far as expectations go, mine are simple: consistent, significant improvement in each facet of the game within and between seasons. This team is the definition of inconsistent, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. Some of that may be team chemistry, but they seem just as sloppy in February as they were in November, and that is concerning. As for the post you apparently take issue with, I stand by those statements. A team that can beat Mizzou and UK at home and then lose by double digits to A&M and UGA on the road isn't making the tournament. And I'm still struggling to see what Johnny has done from a coaching, not a recruiting, perspective to tamp down that skepticism.
