I hate to get caught up on stars, but is filling up the roster with these 3-star recruits going to discourage a higher ranked player at the same position from coming to LSU? We have quite a few 4-star WR's looking really hard at LSU.. is this guy gonna keep them from committing?

Well on scout he is a 4 star. So depending on what site you base your opinion depends if he is 4 or 3 star.

Stars mean nothing of course, but in star parlance, he's a 4 star player with 3 star grades.

All I know about this kid is what I've read but I have to question WHY is LSU offering a kid a scholarship who is the 31st rated player, not in the country, but in Alabama! The only other offer he's had is from Southern Miss, someone please tell me when did LSU start recruiting battles against USM? He's got good size, but his 40 times is 4.5 and he's not academically qualified. For the life of me I can't figure this one out. I sure hope Les and Co. see something in this kid that no one else has.

Michael Clayton posted a 4.6 at the NFL combine.

You say that like a 4.5 is bad. A 4.5 is fast.

I never take 40 times seriously until posted by the NFL combine folks because for the past decade every Arkansas skill position recruit has run a 4.2 or 4.3.

I'm not denying 4.5 is fast, but I'm sorry if I'm skeptical but why hasn't Auburn and Alabama offered a kid in their state a scholarship...It just makes me question why LSU is out bidding Southern Miss for a kid in Alabama.

Look I hope this kid turns into the next Jerry Rice, but it has to make you wonder why LSU is going after the 31st ranked player in Alabama.

Considering he's our FIRST WR commit, and we're expected to sign 2-3 of them, no, I doubt he's keeping anyone from committing....

Besides, a 3-star doesn't keep a 4 or 5 star player from committing. That sort of thing might happen the other way around...but reguardless, I think the word is that he'll be a 4-star by the time the final rankings are released...
