I have been sizing up these two teams for quite a while now, and have decided to post what I feel are LSU needs to do in order to win tonight. 1) Turnovers - LSU needs to stay within 1 takeaway of tOSU (2 to 1), and avoid the Big turnover (INT return for a TD, fumble inside either Red Zone). 2) Stop the run - LSU must sell out to stopping the run and hold tOSU to less that 4 yards per carry (going to be tough to do). This could put tOSU into 3rd and long and allow LSU to blitz and hopefully get after the QB. 3) QB play. If we get good play out of Flynn and RP we should be fine (assuming we are over the dropped pass situation). Don't throw the ball into double/triple coverage, and throw it away to avoid the sack. Take what the defense gives you. I expect a terrific game tonight, by both teams. LSU scores late to win it 27-24, or something like that. :crystal: :champs: :crystal: :champs: :crystal:
I agree with all of the above and want to add PENALTIES. Especially O-Line mistakes. We can't back up in this game. C'mon big beef - get it done.
Excellent point. Not sure how I could forget about those nasty penalties. :crystal: :champs: :crystal: :champs: :crystal:
I say we really test their defense early in the first quarter, with pounding Hester and throwing it deep to Doucet and Byrd. Also, try to get Holiday in some great situations to use his speed. Lets see how they react and figure out the gameplan pretty early.
Get ahead and do it early...take the steam out of them fast! I am as excited for you all as I was for us!
I would love to see us beat them like they stole something, but I don't see it happening.... unless (a) our D is incredibile, (b) our O is unstoppable, (c) we get some easy turnovers and turn them into points and (d) we run a kick/punt back for a TD. :crystal: :champs: :crystal: :champs: :crystal:
Just a reminder that we are facing the #1 Defense in College Football. I trust that CLM will have a gameplan in place to do whatever we can to win tonight. All of the Trick plays throughout the season, going for it on 4th down....those were all "tests" to really see what his team was made up of. I think RP will get some snaps. I hope they can find ways to get the ball in Trindon Holliday's hands 3-4 times tonight, but I hope that the bulk of our offense goes thru our running game and Hester! We also have to contain tOSU's LB Lames Laurinaitis, he had over 100 tackles this season. In my opinion, that is how we beat tOSU tonight. RUN-RUN-RUN. MF-RUN RP-RUN JH-RUN CS-RUN TH-RUN Oh yeah, and play good defense as well! :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
I am going to watch the QB play. I think that will be the turnovers and that whichever QB is throwing off the back foot will be getting the pressure.
And they are playing the 3rd best. I'm not saying their defense isn't great. But I'll take the 3rd rated 'D' with the 14th ranked SOS over the 1st rated 'D' with the 38th ranked SOS.
Taking what the defense gives us, if they put 8 in the box, don't try and pound it, throw it. Sticking with the hot hand if one of the backs is eating up yardage keep giving it to him til they stop him. Nothing is more demeaning to a defense than getting the ball shoved down their throats. QB mistakes and dropped passes, if we keep them to a minimum we win big. Score over 30 points, I don't think tOSU can score over 30 on us.
