Short answer = $$$ NCAA answer = If the super regional match-up is between equally seeded teams, the committee shall review the hosting proposals according to the site selection criteria (e.g., quality and availability of the facility, revenue potential and other available accommodations) to determine the host. If only one of the teams has submitted a proposal, that team shall host if the proposal is acceptable.
And if you pay close attention...they have it to where most SEC teams will have to beat each other out to make it to Omaha. We could have even went to the Ga Tech or Oklahoma regional.
$$$ didnt' have anything to do with the Uconn deal. You wanna market baseball to a place where it just aint gonna happen. Now you send Fla State up there ticked off and it's gonna ruin Uconn forever.
i wouldnt be so sure of that. we dont know how much money uconn threw at the ncaa. for that matter, because facilities generally count, you gotta believe ucla threw some dollars out there to land a regional in that dump. yes, they often try to "spread the love" geographically, no matter how insane the choices, but i am willing to bet the financial proposals for both were quite attractive.
i just showed this pic to greenie. by the time he quit laughing, his comment was "look at it this way, there isnt a bad seat in the house".
just the opposite The SEC can send up to 7 teams to Omaha. only 2 SEC schools that can face each other before that is Bama and Auburn in the Supers
ok, I'm not happy about our draw for regionals. However, I really shouldn't bitch too much. I've always complained about "past performance" having an effect on rankings/seedings in the big 3 college sports. Eff that! This tourney is about this year. If you don't want to get phucked by the selection committee, don't **** the bed the last month of the season. We made our bed, we gotta lie in it.
