Honestly, Im very surprised by that stat. It appeared like more while watching the game. I knew a lot of the completions were short gains and it appeared like they ran better with a few good runs. Overall those are excellent total yard numbers. I still feel the percentage is a bit too high but the D has been lights out so Im content with that number. As long as they on against Bama thats what matters most.
I believe the Tulane game was a tune up, but I think Miles is going to pull back the realy curtain against Bama. I believe we can take them as long as we bring our A game and don't make many mistakes:milesmic:
2 Tulane had 26 yards rushing and under 200 passing. It looked worse than it was because we were blitzing a lot and their QB was pretty quick at getting rid of the ball. I suspect Chief was working on things.
Another thing, I don't think the D was laying off of anything. If you've ever played a down of organized sports ever you know that playing to "not get hurt" is the sure fire fastest way to get you hurt. They may have caught us in a few surprise situations or something like that but I don't for second believe Chavis told them to dial it down a notch or two.
+1 Tulane was a good opportunity to work on our blitz packages. Our secondary was good enough to clean up the screens and we clamped down when it was neccessary. I believe adjustments would have been made if they had ever really presented a threat.
9 and a hook. forgot bama has won like 20 in a row at home. they get a couple pts for that. thats a pretty good streak in the sec hard to overlook. (but money came in on LSU betting it down to 9 yesterday and down to 8' this morning) they are realizing sabans conservative ways make anything more than a td look like a lot.
i dont know what to make of this game. mcelroy looks like he may be regressing. LSU may be improving. but JJ's slow release does not bode well against an attacking defense. he may have more fumbles than passing tds.
McElroy has regressed, no question about that. Im sure we will see alot of slants and screens this game. If Les is smart, he will run Shep alot in the first quarter to work the play action late in the game. I dont think Bama has any speed rushers, I could be wrong.
