Quite simple - our QB play hasn't lent itself to us scoring lots of points. Not scoring lots of points = never blowing out another team. And to there not being style points, that's absurd. Style points is why Oregon's 20 point win over Washington St. leaped them over Boise St. who beat Toledo by 43. If they'd struggled and beaten Washinton St. on the last play of the game by 1 point they wouldn't have passed a higher ranked opponent who won by 43 in the polls. The 20 point win was a must for them to move up.
Agree with the points above except with SEC teams style points accumulate through the year with the muderers row schedule we all face. Each SEC west team will face between 4 & 6 opponents ranked in the top 10. Getting through that gauntlet out styles and 50 point win by Boise State. :geaux:
Exactly what I'm saying. Style points matter. A 20 Point SEC (or in my example even a Pac 10) win is more valuable than a 43 point WAC or Mountain West win. It matters not only who you play but how badly you beat them. An SEC win like our fugly-barely-made-it-on-the-last-play-of-the-game one over a terrible Tennessee team isn't impressing anyone. SC's SEC thumping of Bama was damn impressive. Those are style points. Hypothetically, had South Carolina been ranked one spot behind us in the polls, and we played those games in the same week, I think they would have jumped us in the polls.
