Turnovers and Penalties and lots of young players. This team is in position to do some great things this year. And next year. :crystal::geaux::crystal::geaux::crystal:
I believe we are starting to see what I thought we would see at the beginning of the year: a young, hungry, talented team that has occassional lapses in coverage, assignments, etc. and also makes untimely penalities. I definitely think that is the case the past two games. Because of our talent and the way we are beginning to utilize it, we have been able to overcome our 'unbridled' youth the past 2 weeks. Hopefully, as our youth evolves into experience, we will begin dominating opponents on the scoreboard as well as the field. JMHO. :geaux:
Up until the Florida game, most of the problems on offense had stemmed from senseless penalties, dropped passes, poor offensive line play and having the wrong QB lead this team (that part is hindsight, obviously). The amount of 2nd and 15s and 3rd and 12s were at an absurd level during the first 5 games. All of that changed in the Florida game. The only thing that kept it from a blowout was an interception that unfortunately had a huge return attached to the end of it and the kick return for a touchdown. That part is disconcerting, but I would take it over the poor offensive line play, inept QB play and senseless penalties of the first 5 games. All day, everyday, twice on Sundays. That's where all the hope resides. Playing a clean, crisp brand of football on offense. We did it in the most intimitidating place to play in the SEC on the road (Death Valley excluded) against a top flight defense (albeit young). There is hope. In fact, there is an exciting amount of hope going forward.
