I could replace those things in one day with a dump truck. I have a massive mound of dirt in my yard that needs to be spread.
I don't see the big deal. LSU asked everyone politely not to do this. Who cares? Why do people have to kick and scream about every little thing that changes in the world that they think is "tradition"? Oh no, the band stopped playing Tiger Rag! Let's protest! Oh no, kids cant take cardboard a fall down a gentle slope! Let's protest! :dis:
+1 It's a symptom of problems with our society- people want to resist authority on any little thing. So many kids never get to attend an LSU game and would be happy to go spend a day around the stadium and not be phased with not being able to slide down a hill. If they want to slide down hills take 'em to the sand pits in Turkey Creek or the Forest Hill Speedway.
The mounds were for amateurs anyway.. Any kid who knows anything knows that the hills in front of the old state capitol building are much better to slide down.
Not really Tiga. I think there is a little more to it than that. My personal opinion is that with the crippling budget cuts that the higher education system will be facing every department needs to seem important. Because programs will be cut, and what better card does the archeology department have than ancient dirt piles on their own campus. And what better crowd than 150,000 people on gameday. I don't think it's coincidental this is happening this year.
