It's bitter cold up here in the Northeast ,and it got me to thinking. When is the last time LSU played a game in freezing conditions? Anyone?
I can tell you I remember going to the Liberty Bowl in Memphis (1985) when we lost to Baylor and it's the coldest I have ever been in my entire life. Second coldest was when we played at Arkansas (Fayetteville), 1992. Both miserable games I wish I'd missed.
The Independence Bowl against Notre Dame in '97 - was sleeting the whole game. I'm sure there have been colder LSU games but have there been colder ones that included a streaker!!?
the troy game in 08 was in the top three of coldest games ever, anywhere, for me. no precipitation, but the wind was brutally cold on top of cold temps. the wind was like a knife.
:geaux: Seem to remember the Tigers playing ND up in South Bend, maybe during the 80's, and there was snow all around the edge of the field that day. :LSU231:
All I know .. I had to build a fire watching the Denver/NE game last night, ... just watching on TV made me cold. May have to go build another watching the Texans play the Ravens. Brrrrrrrrrrr.
This. I wasn't even there, but I gave a friend of mine my upper deck tickets. He's from Montana and said he left at half-time because it was too cold for him to sit there and watch. Incidentally, he missed what might have been the greatest LSU comeback ever..
I was just about to say this. I gave my tickets to my friends. What might have made it colder was seeing how badly we were getting owned by Troy for most of the game. They left at half-time bc it just wasn't worth it and then one of the greatest Tiger comebacks in history occurred. From what I heard, that stadium was dang near empty in the 4th while we were coming back.
I'm guessing the 1947 Cotton Bowl was the coldest Lsu game ever. Dubbed the Ice Bowl the temperature for the game was in the low 20's with sleet coming down. The game ended in a 0-0 tie. Lsu was stopped several times inside the ten yard line.
