I believe he has clearly demonstrated (admittedly) learning from lessons of the past. We wouldn't be interviewing the "other guy" in that position if he wasn't there. It was fair to give him the rope and the opportunity. I agree Fornette was a mistake, but the real mistake was allowing it to continue for as long as it did. Thing is, he sat the 7 after seeing more than enough and gave Guice a 2nd chance. But the Florida result was more than just 7 having his run, more than that entirely. I don't mind players talking shit and why not, so as long as they can back it up. Coaching had nothing to do with their not backing it up. Was a war of words and harmless shoving was all it was. Given the circumstance that made this game happen, first blood from them gutless gator fucks over mike...a little smack was well deserved. Don't see it is a pattern. Think O didn't get in their ass for how they represent their school? He certainly didn't get out there and say go get em boys. A lot of folks gotta own their shit over the gator loss, more than 1 HC candidate who we all know is hard to stand up against the proven power HC's out there. I like the little big guy in this selection panel for more of the right reasons than the other guy in this discussion.
I brought it up here already but the vast array of wonderful head coaches on this board say wins and losses dont count. BTW how was my English?
Mascona had a UF reporter on today who felt pretty confident Jimbo isn't leaving. Some people here are saying it's a done deal. If Alleva is getting played by Sexton, hope he's taken that possibility into consideration. Some say Orgeron was Alleva's guy till he lost to UF. A couple folks have the audacity to say this is all a smoke screen for Herman. It really seems like we'll go after a rising star rather than hire Eaux. Tough choice, the future of the program is riding on this. We've had many pivotal moments where we could have knocked Bama down a peg, but it has been years since that happened. Eaux was probably an OC away from that but he had to go and shit the bed against UF (excuse me, the players shit the bed while Eaux looked on, powerless). To his credit, the last drive vs UF was pretty well orchestrated. If Herman is out I'd seriously consider Eaux, listen to his pitch. I don't like the price tag on Fisher. I think I'd lean toward a fourth candidate, someone like Fleck. All this should have already done by Alleva. I expect Jimbeaux to be announced Monday, with leaks Sunday. Curious if O would stay on, I'd think we'd value his services more than most.
I think Jimbo was always Alleva's guy and by his comment to open the checkbook I believe that. Many backers and money donors are giddy over him too. If he is the guy then it would be proper to throw some money at O to keep him and to say "thank you" for giving us some hope to this season. I know his two losses were Miles like, but keep in mind this is still Miles team and staff. I would like Fleck or Herman as well, just not sure we could get them with Alleva at the wheel. Rumors are Fedora would leave NC for us to be closer to home and he has already stolen recruits from SEC contenders. He might end up at UT if Herman doesn't go there. We are a top five school and should end up with a top five coach. Only problem is we have a bottom five AD at the wheel.
so were his two losses at USC in 2013. after his to Notre Dame: "we didn't punch it in the red zone when we needed to," Orgeron said. "We were killing ourselves with missed assignments. You can't win a game when you do that." after his loss to UCLA: "I think it was the worst performance we've had since we started back together," Orgeron said. Orgeron got the Trojans back into the national rankings, and made football fun again at USC -- but he also lost to Notre Dame and UCLA, the Trojans' two biggest rivals. Athletic director Pat Haden hasn't said when he'll pick a full-time coach. swap the names of the schools, and it's exactly what he did here. and Miles never touched the USC program, so he can't be blamed for that one.
Supposedly there are quite a few coaches (agents) making calls or sending messages to put their names into the hat. Sure would be nice if we knew who those guys were.
