Bama and everyone else in the top-10. Over 8 years, almost 50% of Les' recruits come from out of state. Les gets who he wants from instate but there is seldom room for more than 12 or 14 because we bring in talent from all over. Auburn, A&M, Arkansas, Notre Dame, and Nebraska have fed on the leftovers for years. Bama traditionally fishes Tennessee and Georgia but is a latecomer to Louisiana talent.
LSU has been fishing the upper Gulfcoast from South Alabama on over to Galveston for years. LSU always seemed to have a few on the roster.
what's interesting, is that of the 21 out-of-state LSU players that were on an NFL team last year, plus the 6 more out-of-state LSU players that got signed by an NFL team after the 2013 Draft...of the 27 total, 22 were Miles recruits Saban Joseph Addai -- Houston, Texas Matt Flynn -- Texas Dwayne Bowe -- Miami, Florida Travis Daniels -- Miami/Ft Lauderdale, Florida Stephen Peterman -- Mississippi gulf coast Miles Patrick Peterson -- Miami/Ft Lauderdale, Florida Demetrius Byrd -- Miami, FL Ricky Jean-Francois -- Miami, Florida Ryan Baker -- Florida Brandon LaFell -- Houston, Texas Michael Brockers -- Houston, Texas Danny McCray -- Houston, Texas Russell Shepard -- Houston, Texas Ron Brooks -- Dallas, Texas Terrence Toliver -- Texas Chancey Aghayere -- Texas Jarrett Lee -- Texas Stevan Ridley -- Mississippi Kendrick Adams -- Alabama Kevin Minter -- Georgia Perry Riley -- Georgia Kelvin Sheppard -- Georgia T-Bob Hebert -- Atlanta, Georgia Sam Montgomery -- South Carolina Joe Barksdale -- Michigan (1st Michigan signee in LSU history) Spencer Ware -- Cincinnati, Ohio Brad Wing -- Melbourne, Australia
Kwon Alexander. I trust that you'll definitely remember his name when he's not out with a broken bone for the Bama game this year. He's a beast.
While I like the stat, I'd have to say it stands to reason considering that saban hasn't coached here in 8 years. The average career of an NFL player isn't that long.
yeah 8 seasons is a long time. here's the same thing doing the in-state guys only: Miles (44 total recruits in league: 22 in-state, 22 out-of-state -- 50% to 50% ratio) Tyrann Mathieu Barkevious Mingo Eric Reid Michael Ford Chris Faulk Bennie Logan Tharold Simon P.J. Lonergan Lavar Edwards Chase Clement Rueben Randle Trindon Holliday Will Blackwell Jacob Cutrera Chris Hawkins Lazarius Levingston Keiland Williams Richard Murphy Drake Nevis Deangelo Peterson Brandon Taylor Al Woods Saban (21 total recruits still in league: 16 in-state, 5 out-of-state -- 76% to 24% ratio) Jacob Hester LaRon Landry Corey Webster Michael Clayton Devery Henderson Early Doucet Glenn Dorsey Marcus Spears Tyson Jackson Andrew Whitworth Kyle Williams Craig Steltz Marlon Favorite Quinn Johnson Nate Livings Curtis Taylor Dinardo (5 in-state, 0 out-of-state -- 100% to 0% ratio) Todd McClure Ryan Clark Bradie James Howard Green Donnie Jones
Just messing with the gang, Oxford boy actually. What is somewhat ironic is how teams target key players. Bama was much more interested in Denzel Devall and was tremendous for us all season. Tough breaking into Alabama's LB unit, but saw significant playing time. Against Georgia and ND did very well. Each team likes who they like and live with their convictions.
