With McKnight, Tolliver, Jones, Francois, Scott, Peters and Heyward all very possible, the LSU class could end up with 30 recruits. I gotta believe we sign all these kids if their desire is to come to LSU. With 22 seniors and 1 junior leaving early, that's 23. Any idea how we make 30 work? PS - Damn I forgot about Corley. I guess we sign 2 out of Corley/Peters/Heyward, whomever commits first. Or we could sign 31 possibly. I would prefer the 2 DEs Corley and Peters since we have 3 stud DTs already committed.
You don't. 25 is the limit by NCAA rules (I know you know this islstl). Maybe get 5 to greyshirt, which won't happen with the quality of recruits on board, to count against next year's class. Of course, a few won't qualify so that helps out numbers.
Well that's what I am getting at, who greyshirts (Breaux?, Hebert?), who fails academically?, etc. 7 players is a tall order to fill
First of all, Breaux may never play football again, although he sounds quite optimistic in this thread... http://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/MessageTopic.asp?p=3719913&Pg=5 I'd say he's a sure greyshirt candidate. Bajoie is a major academic risk as is Benton. Given the 6 or so left on the board and the possible academic casualties, I'm sure they can make it work.
So let's come up with a list: 1) Breaux (neck) 2) Hebert (shoulder) 3) Bajoie (Grades) That's 26. We could end up with a couple of transfers or players that just quit the team. That would be 28. So that only leaves 2 more that we either greyshirt or don't make the grades. Definitely doable.
T-Bob is not going to greyshirt, he will be a RS Freshman next year. Bajoie (Grades) Benton (Grades) Wilson (Grades) Breaux (Neck Injury) That puts our class at 19 or 20 eligable (depending on Shomari Clemmons)
I believe Benton is VERY close to qualifying. I think he was only one point from qualifying. So hopefully he can make up that point if that is indeed the case.
You can greyshirt as many as you want but there are 2 mitigating circumstances. 1. They must pay their own way into school for the first half of next year. 2. They will be signed next January and count towards next years class. Which means they count twice in the recruiting rankings.
