in no gymnastics expert but im pretty sure while eating breakfast a week or so ago i read in the paper that a team other than uga won the sec title. could be wrong. if so, i would say they have a chance to go down .
Alabama did. But I think that was Georgia's 2nd worst score of the season and they came out 2nd. I mean, yeah, gym is so herky-jerky that anyone could fall down and cost their team. But if all the teams go A+, Georgia will win it in a landslide.
1 Alabama 197.025 2 Arkansas 196.950 3 Utah 196.625 4 UCLA 196.550 5 Oregon State 195.225 6 Illinois 195.050 So, 5 SEC teams. :thumb:
scoring was way up in that 2nd session. Here's the lineup for tomm. Note that today's scores mean nothing tomorrow. I just put them up for reference. Georgia 197.450 Alabama 197.025 Arkansas 196.950 Utah 196.625 Florida 196.375 LSU 196.300
Apparently the scores updated after I copied them and UCLA also scored a 196.625. I don't know how ties work.
And the way I understood it was wrong. According to Utah Edges UCLA in Tiebreaker to Join Five SEC Squads in Super Six, the actual rule is: ------------------------ The I way I understood what the LSU radio crew was saying, in the event of a tie you go to the best average score in a single event. UCLA had the highest over Utah with a 49.425 in the vault, so I think UCLA makes it as the 6th team and only non SEC qualifier.
All links in the first post have been updated, and all are up and running. 6 teams with 4 events going at once, so at some point each team sits out with a bye. LSU sits out in the first round, Georgia will be done by the last round so the teams still competing will know if they have a chance in the final round.
LSU finishes 6th: 1 Georgia 197.825 2 Alabama 197.575 3 Utah 197.425 4 Florida 196.725 5 Arkansas 196.475 6 LSU 196.375
The top 3 teams performed insanely well. LSU couldn't match yesterday's performance on the vault, it was probably unrealistic to expect that. 4th place would have been nice, but 6th should boost our 20th place Directors' Cup ranking. Anyway it was a very good season overall...
I guess the individual competition is more for pride than anything else, but I'm sure the young women were fired up to be a part of it. LSU did pretty good, 2 Championships for Ashleigh! http://www.huskers.com/fls/100/09Wgym/2009WomensNationals-4.htm Vault Results 1 9.9000 Ashleigh Clare-Kearney 2 9.8938 Susan Jackson 10 9.6813 Staci Schwitkis Uneven Parallel Bars 9 9.8500 Ashleigh Clare-Kearney (killer score for 9th place) 16 9.0500 Summer Hubbard Floor Exercise 1 9.9500 Ashleigh Clare-Kearney Tied with Georgia's Courtney Kupets
