For a team that didn't get much Pre-Season, they sure are taking home the Gold....... Tracking The Hardware | December Lots of these guys return next year... :tigereye:
I cannot help but remember when I was driving through Arkansas during SEC media days on business. I was listening to the Arkansas Sports Radio network and the razorback network. Their radio guys where reviewing the SEC west and kept saying. If A&M was in the division LSU would be 4th best in the division. All these people where calling in saying LSU is maybe below Miss State... I really want to call into that show and ask "So how did that work out ???"
Please call.............let us know.......:hihi: I said at the start of the season, the Post-Season awards would come in.........I never thought this many would hit.......:tigereye:
Pig fans probably still think they have the better team, just like gumps. The most gracious losers were Mississippi state. Their coach said how good lsu was after the game and their fans said the aspire to be lsu. I went on both the Kentucky and tenn boards after the games. They said how talented and good that lsu was this year. Bama and arky took their losses the worst. These two still believe we were lucky to have won and their team was better.
I was very surprised during preseason when so few of our guys were getting the love. But, happily, all's well that ends well.
Looking back in the Phil Steeles pre-season guide, this line was ranked 22 in the nation. RB's 33, DL 10, DB's 4 and Special Teams, unranked out of 36 teams. So there were at least 36 teams better on ST than LSU? Yep the shockers 33rd. best RB's in the nation and over 36 teams better in Special Teams. Oh, bamas ST's was in the top 20. I guess FG kickers go into this rating?:hihi: Recruiting this year, is more about building depth, it was last year, but look at the kids that stepped up. 10 from last years class have played. If you can play and help, Les gives you a shot. 82 players have played this year, thats a bunch. Congrats to this staff. Look for a better run with pre-season next year, as to many of these guys return for another season or two.
Brad Wing got some mad respect from Sports Illustrated, naming him 1st team All-American as a RS Freshman.
Glad to see the Wing Man get his due. I told people he would be a great one. Having seen him play at PBS, I never had a doubt. Congrats to all the LSU players....:tigereye:
All the others looked strictly at stats and I'm the number 1 stat guy in the world, but Wing did it like no other, on the biggest stage, and in the biggest games (the Alabama punt that flipped the field late was the punt of the entire year in college football).
Wing had a very good average, but considering how many short punts he was asked to pin inside the five, his average was ridiculous. We can't help it if our coach knows when to punt instead of try too long fgs.
