USA Today Coaches Poll #9 in the AP LSU still controls it's own destiny to win a national championship. I still think we would get in over an undefeated West Virginia or Kansas State who would not play in a conference championship (Big 12). Especially if we beat Florida for the SEC CG (the only team we would have lost to). Beat South Carolina to turn the season around. This game decides what kind of year we are going to have.
No way we win out. I hope we do, just like I hoped we would wake up and play to our potential yesterday, but yesterday was enough of a sample size to easily say, that we are playing the second half of this season to learn and make improvements to compete next season.
After 3 poor weeks (granted they went 2-1), I expected the Tigers to fall from the top 10. I'm surprised. Apparently the pollsters saw enough in our defense to keep us hanging around.
I don't either. Just something to ponder. Our two toughest opponents are at home (Bama is a night game), and that's the only reason I hold out any hope.
Soft landing due to a monster defense that will still win us most of our games. The Offense must be able to score 14 points, for heavens sake.
SC is night game too. SC game should = less stressful for this young LSU team. A win means everything, but a loss doesn't matter as much as yesterday. Hopefully LSU either plays seek and destroy football or plays loose and fun football. The talent is there, and there is enough tradition, and history, for crazy things to happen at night in death valley! If they just STOP playing ugly, sloppy, un-disciplined football, they can win both of those games(SC, BAMA) Hopefully after this loss, it takes the pressure off our youth so they play one of the 2 ways mentioned above. Because now, the pressure is on SC, not LSU. After yesterday, If SC wants to be considered for real, they must bring the wood to LSU, that won't happen. SC will be on UPSET ALERT next weekend. Mark it! I DON'T think Shaw has what it takes to win next Saturday, I DON'T! CALL ME CRAZY, I am but LSU knocks off #3 next weekend, and damn it, if you are there, YOU BETTER RUSH THAT DAMN FIELD AND GIVE THESE KIDS THE FEELING THEY DESERVE! What is the hats record after a loss? What is LSU's record at home after a loss? What is LSU's record at home at NIGHT, after a loss? Thanks in advance for whomever looks that up of you do!
LSU 15-1 after a loss during the Les Miles era. The only back to back losses is to Ole Miss and Arkansas to end the 2008 season. We all remember the last second loss to Arkansas that should have never occurred (31-30). I didn't count the 2 losses in bowl games, otherwise we are 17-1 if you count the opening season wins the following year. LSU 16, South Carolina 13
