We bumped it up a little which I like because it gives us more time to evaluate what we have following the Spring game.

Also wanted to note that LSU's 2nd Junior Day will be the day of the Spring Game.

This will get you excited: here 's a video of the offense vs. defense "Big Cat Drill." Select the video from the listed called the "Tiger Cat Drill"...

Baton Rouge news, weather and sports - WAFB TV - WAFB Channel 9, Baton Rouge, LA |

The drill has the team standing in circle and cheering as two of their mates go head-to-head inside the ring, offensive line men vs. defensive linemen, running backs vs. linebackers and receivers vs. defensive backs.

Another new wrinkle for the Tigers this spring has been the introduction of the "Big Cat" drill, which is a one-on-one full contact drill between and offensive player and a defensive player. "We started this practice out with a "Big Cat" drill and that is something we will do every day in pads," Miles said.
Football Team Wraps Up First Week of Practice - LSUsports.net - The Official Web Site of LSU Tigers Athletics

Kicking off the practice - at least the part media was privy to - was an intense hitting drill Coach Les Miles calls the “Big Cat” drill. In a nutshell, it’s a no holds barred contact drill pitting one teammate against another in a tight space (in between dummies laid on the ground) where there’s no wiggle room, just running straight ahead, hitting and driving through that person for some time … until Miles mercifully blows the whistle. ... [Les Mile said:]: “It is a great way to get practice started.” ... Football sports information director Michael Bonnette told me shortly after the drill that the Big Cat was “new this spring” and that although the team conducted the drill Thursday after reporters left, Miles “decided to let you guys see it today.” After that, players broke into individual drills based on positions.

Thats what I'm talkin about. Make them aggressive as you can and make it a point that they want dominate their opponet from start to finish. I believe thats what separate Saban's teams from the rest, the mentality he instills in his players.

I know yall dont like Saban references but its the truth. I dont like him anymore than the rest of you but thats what makes him so successful

    That was AWESOME!

LOVED watching Russel Shepard get in there and mix it up. The team got a kick out of it, too. Looks like RS bulked up a bit.:thumb:

This. I actually stood up out of my chair to watch that part! I think the team is already completely invested in RS. They were INTO that matchup.

I look forward to NOT having to start basically a redshirt frosh at QB for a change.

By the way, what's the news on Chris Garrett at QB??? :hihi:
