LSU fans Photo shopped for Christian Beliefs

Here you go. Now they've apologized to everyone, so all of you can stop getting so offended at LSU trying not to offend people.

 

Me too, but it wasn't atheists going berserk over a mosque being built around ground zero, or burning Qu'rans, or persecuting gays, beating lgbt people to death, protesting military funerals saying god kills soldiers because of gays. That's all Christians, and like I said, some aren't like this, but some are.

 

for the record, i was in favor of that mosque.

and brett is making a decent point about political correctness in academia. its mostly not a problem in the deep south, but my friends have had really terrible trouble with it up north.

once at lsu i took a race and film course, taught by the most notable guy in the poli sci department. this was after i had spent many years in college and was pretty much out of patience. finally in class i called out the professor for being pretentious and basically having an entire course based on proving to each other we were not racist (even though most of us were), and that virtually every point he was making was either stupid or invalid. it didnt go over well. he was angry and it really hit home. he mocked me about it for the rest of the semester. and that was the moment i lost faith in academia. sorry to digress.

this particular issue is just marketing, not academic stuff.

 

My feelings are, they are altering the appearance of individuals and then using their image….that is ridiculous to me. You either use it as the person displayed themselves or don’t. I personally think it is a cool pic and never even noticed the cross until it was pointed out…I wonder how many people would of even noticed it if they would of left it alone.

 

It's censorship anyway you slice it.

Photochopping the shot was censorship. Deliberately avoiding a great pick just because the kids have these small, almost unoticeable crosses on their shoulder is also censorship.

As was noted already .. anyone who looked at the orginal pick didn't see crosses .. they saw 4 dudes painted up in purple and gold cheering for a team.

Funny thing though ... nobody has any problem with any other expression .. it's always the Christian expressions that get singled out. Let the Gay Pride guys go out there with their rainbow flags and see if it gets censored. NOPE .. it would be held up as a sign of inclusiveness. IF it got photochopped .. the school would be accussed of being homophobic.

 

I didn't follow your line of reasoning on that one either. For one, you mention "this board" when the issue was "this university." Aside from that, I didn't see how A + B = C.

 

Thank goodness we live in the land of the free.
