Read the article. Heb Vincent said exactly why they removed. The university did not want to infer any religious affiliations. It is a state school, and therefore secular. They should have used a different photo.

    Lol

    That's all.

    It's funny...but also absolutely true.

That's horse manure, but I guess every group insists that they're the ones being persecuted.

But this is where the hypersensitivity of society comes in. Using a photo of students who themselves endorse a religion doesn't mean the university is endorsing that religion, but that's where we are as a society now.

Recently, my honors students were putting together an assignment about themselves. They asked if they could mention their religions in the assignment, and I said they could. Then, they wondered if I would "get in trouble" if they mentioned their religions in my public school classroom. I explained I wouldn't get in trouble because I'm not endorsing a religion one way or the other; they are free to express whatever they wish.

Precisely. Something tells me if they'd have included the cross, atheists would've been royally insulted.

Everyone needs take a big step back on the Christianity thing and stop acting like they are so tolerant. They may not cut someone's head off, but they still have their ways of intolerance.

I agree, I wish the University would be more inclusive and aware of the fragile state of everyone who is: not young, not skinny, doesn't have hair, sober, doesn't have all their fingers, students of every other university, the coalition against headwear/sweatbands and The Native Americans only wear war paint society ....this picture could offend them all. I'd suggest only publish pictures of white paper but we've got the trees to consider....there just isn't enough time in a photo shoppers day I suppose. :)

Some of the most intolerant people I know are devout Christians.
