First off the I would like to state that I am usually optimistic about things especially LSU football. With that being said I believe most of the LSU fans are to negative about how things are going on in Baton Rouge. When the fans boo in tiger staduim it HURTS the team and program in numerous ways. Lets start with the current players. What do you think is going though their heads when they hear the boos going on? It demoralizes the team significantly, and they lose confidence and it probably makes them not want to play football. What about prospective recruits? Say a five star QB was attending the game and is considering going to LSU. He hears the boos when LSU is winning the game, that makes a huge negative impact on LSU and oops, he cuts off LSU after the game, big surprise. I could go on but I will stop the rambling and I want to hear what others think.
It's also not a good look when the commentators note that the crowd has thinned out noticeably in a 6-point game between two ranked teams.
I think the other players know exactly why the fans are booing. Maybe they can use whatever power they have to affect the changes everyone is begging for. Recruits probably don't think too highly of a program that continues to play players who perform poorly. They wouldn't want to be stuck behind someone who doesn't seem to be getting it and not be given their chance.
I think you're spot on. But what do I know? I'm mad as hell about the offense, about the playcalling, the execution, JJs tantrums, the penalties, etc...but you HAVE to realize the effect that has. Booing at the stadium, with umpteen recruits there for the first time, hundreds more watching on TV. The only thing I can say is it's probably better than the fans just not giving a chit.
I'm assuming your talking about Lee playing instead of Jefferson which is another issue. When you say "players" what other players are performing poorly?
I think we as LSU fans are kinda fed up with Les Miles right now. Jordan is not a SEC Caliber QB I think we need Jarrett Lee back. He has matured greatly and I say give the man another chance
Well, I was trying not to name names, but I was referring to JJ only. I guess my point which was not well stated was that recruits might think that not getting their shot to play when the guy above them is playing poorly reflects just as badly on a program as fans booing.
1) How do you know this? 2) When was he NOT mature? I say that as someone who thinks he should be given a shot. But don't expect great things, because history proves otherwise.
i think too much is made of the booing, really. i'm sure that happens at every big-time school. i think that if i'm an offensive player i might have to look at the way LSU's offense is being coached, and that might make me reconsider. i'm more than apologetic for miles, crowton and jefferson, but this is becoming stubbornness epitomized.
It was an late kickoff 8:00 game, though. People from out of town facing long drives leave early in late games. My friends from St. Helena who stayed until the end got home at 2:30AM.
