Those things happen and, to be fair, I don't think Tubberville coached that kind of play. I used to hate Tubberville because of the cigar smoking and stomping on the eye of the tiger episodes...that, I think was the total responsibility of the head coach and the coaching staff. But I grew to like Tubbs because he matured as a coach through the years. Not that it matters, but my opinion of Tubberville did a 180 after the game in Tiger Stadium when AU lost on a short, last second field goal miss in very windy conditions. As they were coming off the field a reporter shoved a mike in front of Tubbs and asked him how it felt to lose a game AU should have won and he said that right now he was more worried about the mental state of his young, freshman kicker who had the weight of the world on his shoulders and was totally dejected than he was about the loss. I thought that he came a long way as a coach and was a man that had the loss in perfect perspective. That's why I became a secret Tubberville fan that day and I don't think a spate of chop blocking was his fault at all. I hope he turns the big 12 around with his emphasis on the defense. Texas seems to be trying to do that also. If Texas Tech can keep up their exciting offense and Tubbs can bring an SEC defense out west......look out podnah ! :thumb:.
i am eternally grateful that Tubby got a new gig. my complete disdain for him now allows me to hate another team :thumb: New guy in Auburn needs to get his sh!t together though. I would really enjoy hating them for the rest of my life, but coach needs to give me a lil ammo to make it easier.
Chop blocks, illegal as they are, do happen quite frequently, and most times, unintentional. And Potts is said to be out until mid next week and honestly, I wish he would win over the starting position. He is the prototypical quarterback with a "freakish" arm. If you put me on the field, i dont think you would be able to tell the difference Sheffield and I. He might lead the team better, which i can respect, but I also think we need the best quarterback out there.
I really looked forward to Potts getting the job. Once there, however, he did not win me over. Just get the feeling he is waiting to see what unfolds, Sticks just seemed more aggressive. No doubt Potts has the arm, but he has to win that head game first.
Personally I think that he needs to not over-think his reads. When I watch him I get the feeling that he wants to throw it, but doesnt know if thats really where he wants to throw it, so he second guesses himself and then the defense reads him. Im just ready for April 17th
