I'm new on the LSU forums, but I am a big poster on the Texas Tech threads, and I just wanted to get yalls opinion on our coach, Tommy Tubberville. I he can take us to the next level where leach couldn't, and hopefully my school can meet up with one of my favorite schools, LSU in a BCS game. Wishing yall luck next season from Lubbock

"the next level where leach couldn't?" good luck with that. tubberville is a good coach, but you need a mastermind to excel at a mid-major like TT, no offense. leach was an offensive mastermind. i don't see TT being better than they were the last few seasons under mike leach with tubberville in control. i see TT being a team that plays solid defense and just enough offense to win. not that that is a bad thing, but i don't see anymore prolific offenses in TTU's future. but tubberville is one of my favorite coaches. i was hoping that he'd come to LSU one day, but he's the polar opposite of leach, imo.

I can see where you are coming from, but with being as involved as I am, i can tell you that our new OC lead one of the more prolific offenses in the nation at Troy. Yes, they play in the Sun Belt, but he put up close to, if not better numbers than Leach did at OU when he was leading the offense there. Tubberville has kept the pass first mind set, and with the introduction of a defense that can hold people to under 40 points a game, hopefully we can take it to a maybe not a BCS, but a higher level than before.

    paging deceks, paging deceks......

    welcome to the board lsufanfromtech.

we have a resident poster that is an auburn grad and lives in lubbock. being that he is familiar with both schools, i am sure he will have some interesting thoughts on your questions. now, of course, lsu fans will likely have some good opinions, but deceks will be your best bet for answers.

glad that you didn't take it as me knocking TTU's program. i think highly of tubberville and neal brown. in fact, i think they trump LSU's offensive staff of miles/crowton any day. troy has had impressive numbers the last few seasons, but leach's teams were a thing of beauty. if TT can win with the staff it has now, then the program will go a very long way toward not breaking down in big games. less "gimmick" and more sound-football. again, not knocking TTU.

definitely. brown is a credible OC, but leach's offenses were a thing of beauty. maybe it's my youth, but i get a kick out of high-powered offenses. big-ten style football, to me, is boring as all hell. which is why i'm not so excited about LSU football since jimbo departed.

I might get blasted for this, but Tubbs kind of reminds me of Les. They both like to run some crazy special teams plays throughout the season, and I like that. Yall have the "Mad Hatter" and from what I have heard, we now have the "Riverboat Gambler" I know you arent dissing tech, youre just giving your opinion, which is comes with respect from me

Although it wasn't really his coaching at issue, there was a time on this forum and throughout Tiger Nation when Tubberville was persona non gratis. He opened his mouth alot and this permeated into how his players, for lack of a better word, "behaved." However, for whatever reason, he seamed to reign that in and focused more on the game. Can't really argue with his track record as a coach. Most agree Auburn go the shaft when they went undefeated. Tubberville believes in the run, it will be interesting to see how that works out. Best of luck to ya'll :thumb:

Welcome to TF, really the best site around. You will enjoy it here, and you can talk about the Raiders without getting trashed. I can even talk Auburn here without too much acrimony. As said, I have deep ties to AU and to TTU, so we will have much to talk about.

One thing you said caught my attention. Are you affiliated with the program, or another one within the department?

My thoughts, I am a big CTT fan. I believe he is an excellent organizer of programs and will put a structure which is needed for sustained success in place. I believe CTT has an above average concept of what it takes to make a defense excel. It scares the heck out of me that he is paying so much attention to Brown. CTT has never seen a lead he wouldn't sit on. I believe he wants to turn loose and learn, but am afraid he will meddle. I am cautious about the Brown/Moore dynamic, given Moore's relationship with Franklin (reaction from meddling).

Like all HCs he will be no better than the assistants and the organization he has. CTT was worn down by a lot of outside forces at AU. That really kept him from turning what should have been highlight seasons into a steady decline. CTT has something to prove. A focused CTT is a very good coach.

I don't think the O will look like the Air Raid. There will be much more motion and the geometry used to create space will be more centric. I am seeing that CTT bought more into Franklin than I believed. Franklin was just a bad fit at AU. All in all I am cautiously optimistic. I will be there.

Again, welcome to TF. Great place to talk and learn.
