We know the name. Can’t get away from it. Johnny Football. He’s this, he’s that and now he’s Cam Newton? Not sure I’m ready to take that plunge. Cam was one of those “playing on another level” guys. Still the numbers that JM is putting up are impressive. Granted he’s posted these numbers against teams like SMU, SC State, Arkansas, Ole Miss and La Tech, but the talent is evident. Intangibles aside the key to LSU’s success in this game is simple. Manhandle Manziel.

Look at the numbers and play Chief for an evening.

    Passing:
    NAME Johnny Manziel
    CMP 128
    ATT 190
    YDS 1680
    CMP% 67.4
    YDS/A 8.84
    TD 14
    INT 3
    RAT 162.8
    Yd / Game 280

Solid yards per game combined with gaining almost 9 yards per pass play. He’s showing good control with only 3 interceptions and almost 70% completions.

    Rushing:

    NAME Johnny Manziel
    CAR 91
    YDS 676
    AVG 7.4
    LONG 72 (TD)
    TD 10
% of Team Rush Yds 48%
    YD / Game 113

    NAME Ben Malena
    CAR 60
    YDS 380
    AVG 6.3
    LONG 59 (TD)
    TD 3
% of Team Rush Yds 27%
    YD / Game 63

    NAME Christine Michael
    CAR 41
    YDS 169
    AVG 4.1
    LONG 40 (TD)
    TD 4
% of Team Rush Yds 12%
    YD / Game 28

This is one of the most telling statistics. JM is responsible for almost HALF of A&M’s ground game. This kid is really doing it all. The bottom line is that there are a lot of A&M eggs in one basket. Les Miles may be saying that LSU is not going to put a spy on Manziel but they damn sure better be putting a hit on him every play. Contain, collapse and crush. That’s my recipe for the D. Those guys should be foaming at the mouth and from what I’ve seen of our defense, they really enjoy a good challenge. I’m really looking forward to watching this D tomorrow. It will be a lot of fun to watch what Chavis dials up against Manziel.

Exercise good discipline and keep the kid pushed into the Tiger's jaws. I think the D is going to have a big day!

Play assignment football, stay in your lanes, do not over pursue. If the O doesn't turn it over a bunch and doesn't just completely lay an egg, we got this.

When Johnny Football starts putting up his season numbers against us, State, and Bama, then we can start making Cam comparisons.

To me so far I would compare him to Taylor Martinez, very talented but hasn't proven he can be effective against elite defenses.
