Absolutely! Best defensive display Ive seen. :tigereye: Im glad Chavis got the game ball - it was well deserved.
Would not be surprised to see a rule change this offseason about the OT rules. "The Cade Foster rule" as it should be called. Just like the NFL has adopted the Brett Favre OT rule for the playoffs.
LOL to little Nicky's quote! I can see the point about already being in field goal range at the 25, but both teams do have the option to drive in and put up a TD, so I don't think its "not real football". I think it emphasizes the importance of your red zone defense.
The college overtime is stupid because you play football for 60 minutes, then play something that doesn't resemble football to decide the game. That said, Bama lost that game in the first half and have no excuses. LSU having a better field goal kicker is why they won the game and last I checked special teams was part of the game.
Did they sniff it? Even when the refs spotted them on the 25 yard line in OT, Alabama/LSU would have none of it. Back to the 35, bro... :hihi: I am in Oregon right now. These hosers here were mostly pulling for Bama because they lost to us. It just didn't matter that they need us to keep winning for their own SOS sake. The outcome of our game is what allowed Oregon to jump Arky. Apparently, both bama and LSU have crap offenses now and shouldn't be in the NC hunt. And apparently, Bama should have won with the missed FGs, never mind the fact that we pushed them back into long FGs every time they missed. Jesus, the ignorance factor is STAGGERING.
LSU had the ball inside the Bama 42 five times in regulation. A penalty knocked us out of FG on one of those occasions. We had just as many chances to score as Bama. We elected to punt and pin them deep vs going for it or kicking a really long FG. Our decision making was the difference in the game most likely.
Miles believed in his kids on defense enough to punt the ball and play field position. Did Nick not believe his defense could hold us or did he feel his kicker could make it? Was he so ready to score and so intent on putting points on the board early that he couldn't punt?
I believe Saban acted out of desperation knowing he needed any chance at points he could get. Panicked was the way I saw his decision to routinely go for kicks. All season long Bama fans have discussed how bad their kickers are and yet in the biggest game Saban leans heavily on them. That is pure desperation. He didn't have confidence he would get to score on LSU much, so he was kicking with a prayer that the kid might connect because he knew those points were desperately needed. He tried the trick play with Marquis. It didn't work the way ours did last year to DeAngelo Peterson did it? Eric Reid should never have been in the area, but their own WR's route brought him in close enough for Reid's amazing football instincts to take over and make a play to change the game. Saban wants his guys to do their job exactly as he lays it out. Eric Reid did what all great players do -- he trusted what his eyes told him and he made a play. He's a playmaker.
Just heard the little nicky press conference, & he kept saying that the long FG misses weren't all on the kickers, but that the O failed to do things right once they were near the redzone. How about our D finally did things right & dominated, completely DOMINATED your O when they threatened to score! BTW, if Jeff woulda thrown a better ball to Shep or to RR, we woulda in regulation. Lee woulda been the one throwing those balls if he wouldn't have buckled under the pressure. But I'm grateful to JJ for having the poise to do what he had to do to get it done.
