Do you really think Miles will pull JJ that quickly in the first game of the season in a non-conference game? He's been pumping him up in the media, and JJ's been all over ESPN. I don't see that happening.

Under 20 eh? Not with two Heisman candidates in the back field. Not going to happen.

Jefferson has to perform or be replaced, just like any other player. Les cannot afford to let Jefferson lose the opening game when he has Mettenberger available. You don't sign the best junior college quarterback and bench him.

Red that's using that scientist logic to come to a conclusion. We know that many of Miles moves didn't seam overly logical in the past. I would love to see Mett sooner rather than later just like you. I have to agree with the duck though. I don't see jj being benched unless he gets hurt or throws half a dozen interceptions in the game.

In the first game though? If Mettenberger is that good, wouldn't Coach Miles start him to begin with? There has to be other circumstances that are keeping him from starting over Jefferson.

You put the best 11 players on the field, right?

If all else is equal heading into the game, then you always go with the experienced senior. If JJ starts to show signs of his old, inconsistent and indecisive self, then we've got someone to turn to. But JJ almost always comes out of the gate looking strong, so we'll see if Zach's services are needed.

I just think that if a coach is that quick to pull a starting senior in the first game, that he has no confidence in him to begin with. Les Miles is a smart guy. He'll put the best guy for the job out there. If all things are equal, and JJ is who he's been the past year, there must something wrong for ZM not to beat him out for the starting job. he's a physical specimen, so maybe it's between the ears? He did have to go the JUCO route. Not saying that's it, but something's there that fans aren't privy to.

Simply not true. It's becoming more and more obvious that you've paid next to no attention to LSU recently. Miles shuffled the QBs with regularity last year. When JJ was having an off night, he put in Jarret Lee to bail us out.

If JJ is who he's been for most of his career, then all things aren't equal. If JJ beats out Zach, then it will be because he has shown signs of drastic improvement. He will have to earn it, I can assure you of that.

Once again, you know little of which you speak. ZM went JUCO because Mark Richt kicked him off the team for fondling some girl at a bar. It had nothing to do with academics.

I'm saying if ZM was equal to JJ's past performances, that there must be an issue. He's got the physical tools to do the job.

Well, that would make you the only one saying that. ZM is far better than JJ's past performances. He threw 32 TDs and only 4 interceptions in JC last year. Of course, that doesn't translate verbatim to big-boy football, but there's no way that JJ would have even come close to those number in JC.
